(Nov. 10, 2025) — Senate Majority Leader plans to take a floor vote Monday evening to approve a proposal which would provide appropriations for the federal government and reopen departments and agencies which have been shuttered, partially closed or have furloughed workers, some numbering in the thousands.
On Sunday, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) told Maria Bartiromo on “Sunday Morning Futures” that the then-40-day-old shutdown would end. On Sunday evening, Thune held a “test vote” showing that eight Democrats voted with Republicans to adopt the proposed bill and reopen the government.
Several military-oriented resolutions were proposed and approved.
Resulting in the shutdown beginning October 1, Democrats wanted Republicans to include in the Continuing Resolution (CR) of September 16 an increase Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits given the plans are scheduled to incur significant increases for 2026. Some are reportedly set to double.
If the Senate passes the new proposal, it will fund the government through January 30, 2026.
