To the Editor:

Congress, which has been so eager to impeach President Trump, must direct its indignation toward Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy.
During an interview the Sunday before the murder of Charlie Kirk, Senator Murphy said, “You have to be willing to do whatever is necessary in order to save the country.”* In this atmosphere, such a declaration is inflammatory and, as we saw with Charlie Kirk’s assassination, too many are keen to heed it.
Whether his comments directly incited Kirk’s murder or not, Senator Murphy must be aware of his influence on those who eagerly will justify “any means” to silence opponents.
The Senator and his Democratic colleagues condemned President Trump for statements they claimed incited the violence of January 6, 2021. If the Congress has any integrity, it will be as zealous to excoriate Senator Murphy.
The senator has inflamed, rather than calmed. His conduct warrants censure or impeachment.
Sincerely,
Dennis Gladden

NOW is time for those who truly love the Constitutional Republic the Founders left us to stop turning the other cheek to those, like Senator Murphy, who want to destroy it.
If not NOW, when? If not we, who?
