(Jul. 8, 2025) — WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a shocking turn of events, the dastardly One Big Beautiful Bill has passed, and we, the nation’s proud, pint-sized, and perpetually shrill Democrats, are here to wail, gnash our teeth, and warn you about the coming apocalypse—by which we mean, of course, tax cuts for people who actually work for a living.
Top 10 Catastrophes (a.k.a. “Benefits”) for the Working Class
1. Tax Cuts for the Poors?
How dare they! The largest proportional tax cuts go to families making $15,000 to $30,000. That’s money they could have been sending to Washington for us to redistribute more inefficiently!
2. Standard Deduction Boosted—Now What?
The deduction goes up by $1,500. So now 91% of Americans can file their taxes without needing a PhD in accounting. Where’s the fun in that?
3. No Tax on Tips—Waitresses Might Smile
Four million tipped workers get to keep their tips. Next thing you know, they’ll be able to afford avocado toast AND rent.
4. No Tax on Overtime—More Money for the Masses
Eighty million hourly workers get to keep their overtime pay. We can already hear the sound of union bosses sobbing into their soy lattes.
5. Child Tax Credit Expanded—Kids Everywhere
The Child Tax Credit jumps to $2,200. That’s more money for families, and probably more kids named “Liberty” and “Freedom.” Ugh.
6. Take-Home Pay Increases—Workers Might Smile
Typical families get up to $10,900 more per year. How will we convince people they’re oppressed if they’re flush with cash?
7. Job Creation—A Plague of Employment
7.2 million jobs protected or created, including 1.4 million in manufacturing. We prefer our unemployment lines long and our talking points longer.
8. Tax Relief for Seniors—Grandma Buys a Jet Ski
Seniors get an extra $6,000 deduction. Great, now they’ll be out there living their best lives instead of writing angry letters to Congress.
9. Small Business Support—Entrepreneurs Unleashed
Permanent tax cuts and expanded expensing for small businesses. Next thing you know, someone will open a gluten-free, solar-powered, artisanal pickle shop on every corner.
10. Savings Accounts for All—Personal Responsibility?
Trump savings accounts and expanded HSAs. The horror! People might start planning for their own futures instead of relying on government.
Medicare “Reform” (Or: How We Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Eligibility)
1.Eligibility Tightened—Aliens Need Not Apply
Only lawful residents, select immigrants, and certain compact citizens can get Medicare. So much for our “Medicare for Martians” platform.
2.Working Seniors Get More HSA Love
Seniors who keep working can keep saving. We much prefer the “retire, expire, and vote absentee” model.
3.Bigger HSA Contributions for the Little Guy
Lower-income folks can save more for healthcare. We always said we wanted more savings—just not like this!
4.Rural Hospitals Reopened—Country Folk Survive
Closed rural hospitals can reopen. There goes our plan to centralize all healthcare in Brooklyn.
5. AI Fights Medicare Fraud—Robots Take Our Jobs
$25 million for AI to prevent fraud. We were hoping to unionize the fraudsters, but whatever.
Top 5 Myths (That We Totally Still Believe)
1.“It’s Just for Billionaires!”
Sure, the biggest cuts go to the working class, but billionaires exist, and we can’t just let them be happy.
2.“It Kicks People Off Medicaid!”
Except it doesn’t. But if we say it loud enough, maybe someone will believe us.
3.“It Explodes the Deficit!”
Actually, it cuts the deficit by $2 trillion, but math is hard and yelling is easy.
4.“Work Requirements Are Cruel!”
Only for able-bodied adults without kids, but we’re pretty sure “work” is a four-letter word.
5.“It Makes Life Unaffordable!”
Except for the $10,000+ in extra take-home pay, lower taxes, and cheaper energy. But who’s counting?
A Big, Beautiful, Hopeful Future
But you know what? Maybe, just maybe, the future looks… well, Big, Beautiful, and Bright. Maybe more jobs, more money, and more opportunity means fewer people need to listen to us shriek about doom and gloom. Maybe America will thrive, families will prosper, and even we, the shrillest of Democrats, will find something to smile about—like a new artisanal pickle shop, opened by a newly prosperous working-class entrepreneur.
So here’s to a future that’s Big, Beautiful, and Bright—even if it means we’ll have to find new things to complain about.
