(Jul. 1, 2025) — The big beautiful city of Prescott just dodged an ugly bullet. In an effort to transform “Arizona’s Christmas City” into becoming another odoriferous version of San Francisco, the 2025 General Plan was recently shot down by the Prescott City Council. It is now unlikely to be on the November ballot, allowing voters a temporary reprieve. Before complacency sets in, Prescottonians need to be aware of a growing danger gestating within its city limits. Even during the misnomered Pride Month, Prescott likes to pride itself as a Conservative bastion in Arizona. However, Conservatism is slowly in danger of fading away in Prescott.

The General Plan was an exercise in the DEIonization craze that swept America during the Great PretenderTM Biden Presidency. The General Plan was chock-full of DEI, climate change plus a couple of weird things called Road diet and Vision Zero. Apparently, the “visionaries” trying to turn Prescott into a Progressive Paradise expected the mostly older retired populace to abandon their cars and mountain bike or skateboard to their medical exams. Removing automobiles and car lanes would be totally awesome, dude, except for that dang arthritis.

The very real danger is that the final version of the General Plan was only defeated by the City Council with a 4-3 vote against. Why was the vote so close? A Democrat recently replaced Cathey Rusing, a solid Republican, who had to resign her seat in order to run for mayor. Due to Byzantine bylaws of YavGOP, several board members abstained from voting which signaled the beginning of a Democratic City Council. This is a real possibility because the ultra-liberal PUSD school board has allowed indoctrination of Prescott’s youth. Their newly sanctioned textbooks equate George Washington with Napoleon and falsely label America as a Democracy rather than a Constitutional Republic. There has even been a teacher who dresses up like a baby and gurgles baby talk. These kids will soon become misled voters.

Several weeks ago, the 249-year too late “No Kings” anti-Trump demonstration filled the Courthouse Square with several thousand demonstrators. It was organized by the burgeoning Democratic Party and Prescott Indivisibles. Several hours later, the 250th birthday party for our United States Army as well as President Trump’s birthday were celebrated in the same Square. Only a few hundred people bothered to show up to celebrate our freedom. The coverage by The Daily Courier was nothing short of regurgitated propaganda. No surprise there.

These are all warning signs but hope springs from last November’s General Election. DEI has either been canceled or forced underground into the Mines of Moria. As Gandalf commanded, “You shall not pass!” DEI has now been revealed to stand for Destitution, Embitterment and Injustice.

Ironically, Conservative Californians moving to Prescott bring the warning of the danger of woke politics. This includes the nonsense that the authors of the General Plan attempted to foist on Conservative Prescott. While not always welcomed at first, our new Arizonans love Barry Goldwater and its history of Arizona’s spirit of independence. It is time for all Prescottonians to come together and support de-DEIonization here in Prescott as well as everywhere else.
