Madam Attorney General,
I am writing to express deep concerns regarding the recent ruling by the 9th Circuit, which allows transgender individuals access to Olympus Spas—traditional Korean spas where women, including minors as young as 13, bathe communally and unclothed.
This decision raises serious questions about privacy, safety, and cultural respect. In no modern society is it considered acceptable for adult men—regardless of gender identity—to share nude bathing spaces with underage girls. While ensuring inclusivity and fairness in public accommodations is important, it must not come at the expense of safeguarding minors and maintaining appropriate boundaries in spaces traditionally designated for women. To ensure safe spaces for women and children is something I believe is part of the President’s agenda and I trust you will see to that.
Parents entrust businesses such as Olympus Spas to uphold environments that respect both cultural practices and common-sense protections for minors. The reality of shared nudity between adult males and teenage girls is deeply troubling, and this ruling risks setting a precedent that undermines foundational expectations of safety and decency.
I urge further scrutiny of this ruling to ensure the well-being and privacy of all patrons—especially minor children. Your office plays a crucial role in bringing accountability to such conduct, and I appreciate your time in considering the implications and potential consequences.
Sincerely,
Robert Kalebra
