(Apr. 10, 2025) — On Thursday night’s “Hannity,” President Donald Trump’s former White House counsel and spokesperson, Alina Habba, announced she is opening an investigation into New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, who has reportedly instructed police not to hand over illegals sought by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE).
As of last week, Habba was appointed interim U.S. attorney for the district of New Jersey, her home state.
New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin will also be placed under investigation, Habba said.
According to YourNews on Thursday:
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has issued a directive ordering all state police departments to cease cooperation with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The sweeping order, supported and enforced by New Jersey Attorney General Matt Platkin, was issued under the framework of the state’s “Immigrant Trust Directive,” first established in 2018.
The move comes at a critical time in the national immigration debate, just as former President Donald Trump’s administration added more than 27,000 “Outstanding Administrative Warrants for Removal from the United States” into the FBI’s National Crime Information Center (NCIC).
Anyone obstructing the federal government’s efforts to apprehend criminal illegal aliens will be charged accordingly, Habba said.
On February 3, Murphy announced he was housing an individual above his garage whose status in the country is “not at the point where they are trying to get it to.”
According to nj1015, Murphy “dared ICE to raid his multi-million-dollar property, giving the impression that he may be harboring someone who is in the country illegally.”
At the time, “Border Czar” Tom Homan threatened to launch a probe into Murphy’s actions.
Murphy had already reportedly instructed local and state police to decline to cooperate with ICE.
“You know how serious I am about law and order,” Habba told Hannity. “If anybody wants to use politics or their position, I will be investigating you…if you order obstruction…you will be charged.”
Habba was Trump’s spokesperson during his fraud trial in Manhattan, a case brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James, who at the same time, White Collar Fraud reported, revealed her residence as Norfolk, VA.
New York State law requires public officials to reside within its borders.
