(Mar. 29, 2025) — A legend is told that if you put a tiny house in your garden, or even within your own home, a fairy will come to reside there. Now, you might never see them, but they live there just the same.
It all started years ago when Penny, a princess of the fairy folk, decided to build her home in a flower box, outside a small child’s bedroom window. The child was very lonely, so, when she saw the tiny house, she instantly believed a friend lived inside. Every day, the little girl would lean close to the house and whisper secrets, hopes, dreams and funny jokes. Penny was much too shy to ever come out in the daytime when she would be seen, so she would wait till everyone was in bed asleep. She would then emerge from her house and whisper sweet dreams into the ear of the little child, and, just to make sure the girl knew that her conversations had been heard and appreciated, every now and then, the fairy princess would leave a penny in the child’s path to find the next day.
In honor of their beloved leader, the fairy folk still make their homes in gardens or welcoming domiciles, and, every now and then, will leave a penny on our path to let us know our secrets, hopes, dreams and funny jokes are heard and appreciated. And that is why someone may offer you “a penny for your thoughts.”
