(Feb. 4, 2025) — On February 17, Children’s Health Defense (CHD), the organization launched by HHS Secretary nominee Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., will present the premier of a new film, “Introducing Homeopathy,” which its trailer touts as “21st-century medicine.”
Viewing is free, but pre-registration is required. Showings are at 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. EST.
“Homeopathy is a powerful healing modality that changes lives,” the trailer conclusion states. “Until now, its voice has been silenced across the medical landscape. Introducing Homeopathy is a new professionally produced, feature-length film dedicated to bringing homeopathy into every household and healthcare system globally.
“A team of award-winning producers and writers tell the story of homeopathy through interviews with some of the world’s leading homeopaths, medical practitioners, and scientists.
“Together, they reveal the true power of homeopathy.“
According to the Cleveland Clinic, “Homeopathy is a system of therapeutics that was developed at the end of the 17th century by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician. Homeopathy believes that using extremely minute diluted amounts of plants and minerals can help the body repair itself by promoting healing. This alternative medicine remains popular worldwide. However, there’s no strong evidence for homeopathy’s effectiveness greater than a placebo.”
Hahnemann was born in Saxony, now a part of Germany, in 1755 and obtained his medical degree in 1779. In 1810 he published “Organon of Medicine,” originally titled, “Organon of Rational Medicine.”
In 1921 an English translation of the Hahnemann’s sixth edition was issued by Dr. William Boericke. According to the Homeopathy School, Boericke is credited with “rescuing this last authentic work of Hahnemann from possible loss and for putting it into good, clear, unparaphrased English. Twice, this manuscript of Hahnemann was in danger of being lost, once during the siege of Paris in the Franco-Prussian war of 1870-71, and once in the military over-running of Westphalia during the World War of 1914-18. Doctor Boericke was the main instrument for procuring this last medical manuscript of Hahnemann for the medical world.”
Washington Homeopathic Products defines homeopathy as “based on the principle that ‘like cures like.’ A substance that can cause an illness or a symptom can also treat the same illness when given in a minute amount in a homeopathically-prepared medicine. Homeopathic medicine requires a process of continuous dilutions and succussions (vigorous shaking) in order to be effective.”
According to Wikipedia, homeopathy is “a pseudoscientific[1] system of alternative medicine.” The National Institutes of Health (NIH) states homeopathy:
is a medical system that was developed in Germany more than 200 years ago. It’s based on two unconventional theories:
- “Like cures like”—the notion that a disease can be cured by a substance that produces similar symptoms in healthy people.
- “Law of minimum dose”—the notion that the lower the dose of the medication, the greater its effectiveness. Many homeopathic products are so diluted that no molecules of the original substance remain.
Homeopathic products come from plants (such as red onion, arnica [mountain herb], poison ivy, belladonna [deadly nightshade], and stinging nettle), minerals (such as white arsenic), or animals (such as crushed whole bees). Homeopathic products are often made as sugar pellets to be placed under the tongue; they may also be in other forms, such as ointments, gels, drops, creams, and tablets. Treatments are “individualized” or tailored to each person—it’s common for different people with the same condition to receive different treatments. Homeopathy uses a different diagnostic system for assigning treatments to individuals and recognizes clinical patterns of signs and symptoms that are different from those of conventional medicine.

Last week, Kennedy, an environmental attorney and former Democrat presidential candidate who is no longer chairman of the organization, testified to the Senate Finance Committee in advance of a committee vote on his confirmation as President Trump’s Health & Human Services secretary, which is expected to take place shortly after 10:00 AM EST Tuesday. The hearing commenced at 10:12 a.m.
At 10:28 a.m., the committee advanced Kennedy’s nomination in a 14-13 vote.

Pubmed has a number of papers on homeopathy. The data seems to be a mixed bag on how effective it is. To my way of thinking is that when there are inconsistent results, that means there might be something there. but the methods for studying the subject are flawed. IMHO.
