Bravo, Joe Hildebrand, Melbourne Herald Sun, 25/1/25, for at least some reasonable pondering, “SINGLE SOLUTION TO OZ DISPUTE: DOUBLE THE DAY”!
While acknowledging Joe’s still ‘divisive’ suggestion of separate Australia Day-type celebration days for Aboriginal (Jan. 25th) and all other Australians (Jan. 26th) each year, Joe appears somewhat mindful of T.S. Eliot’s:
“Continuity must not be blind sameness, but rather a renewal that preserves the essence of the past; while invigorating it with the energy of the present and the future.”
Oh, and a question, Joe: On your 26th of January, separate “Multicultural Australia Day” each year, will Australia Day Citizenship Ceremonies still be held, and only on the 26th of January each year?
