(Dec. 19, 2024) — New revelations published in The Wall Street Journal Thursday morning about Joe Biden’s “diminished” capabilities beginning with the 2020 presidential campaign were a topic of discussion on the Fox News Channel’s “The Five” Thursday evening.

“To adapt the White House around the needs of a diminished leader, they told visitors to keep meetings focused,” The Journal wrote in a lengthy article released outside the outlet’s customary paywall. “Interactions with senior Democratic lawmakers and some cabinet members—including powerful secretaries such as Defense’s Lloyd Austin and Treasury’s Janet Yellen—were infrequent or grew less frequent. Some legislative leaders had a hard time getting the president’s ear at key moments, including ahead of the U.S.’s disastrous pullout from Afghanistan.”

The co-hosts raised the question many Americans raised as Biden’s presidency unfolded of, “Who is running the country?”

A “system” was put in place to insulate Biden from negative press coverage, The Journal detailed, “from making gaffes” and to coach him through his day, truncating or even canceling meetings with cabinet members and congressmen if Biden was having a “bad day.”

Moments into The Five’s discussion of the topic, begun by The Journal with an initial article in June, co-host Jesse Watters blurted out, “We’re going to find out he stole the election from Trump.”

After he left office, Donald Trump was charged in two federal criminal cases, one of which accused him of trying to illegally alter the results of the 2020 presidential election. After Trump won last month’s election, then-Special Counsel Jack Smith, who one federal judge ruled was appointed unconstitutionally by Attorney General Merrick Garland, withdrew both cases and moved to close his office.

At the state level, on Thursday a Georgia appellate court ordered Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and her office disqualified from pursuing its case against Trump and 18 others for allegedly attempting to overturn the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.

“Jesse…!” co-host Jeanine Pirro instantly responded to Watters’s declaration, after which Watters calmly repeated his claim.

The four year break may make Trump come back ferociously, unapologetically, and still with a righteous calmness. The Left would have been better off getting the second term over and done with. Trump/Vance is twice the team Trump/Pence was, and the guy in the wings is no slouch.
