(Nov. 5, 2024) — During his lengthy 2024 presidential campaign, former President and Republican nominee Donald J. Trump often said his supporters must vote in numbers to render the results “too big to rig,” a reference to his belief that the the 2020 election was falsely decided.
As of 10:00 p.m. EST, Trump has been declared the winner of the electoral votes in South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio and West Virginia, according to election returns from Fox News.
He has also won Texas, Oklahoma and Iowa.
Democrat contender and Vice President Kamala Harris, who was substituted for Joe Biden in late July, has reportedly won Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Rhode Island, and Illinois.
As of 10:07 p.m., Trump leads Harris in electoral votes 205 to 117.
Virginia and North Carolina have not yet been determined, although in the latter, Trump is reportedly leading by approximately 3.5 points statewide.
Also undeclared is the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, which both candidates courted aggressively, particularly in the final days of the campaign. Harris leads by a wide margin in Philadelphia County, while Trump appears to hold a lead of about 1.5 points overall.
The Midwest and Western states of Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada remain undecided, with voting having just concluded in the latter and a state law prohibiting any prognostications until the last voter in line has cast a vote.
As of 10:16, Trump leads Harris in Wisconsin by one-tenth of a point, 49.3 to 49.2.
Trump has taken the lead in Pennsylvania by just over two points, 48.5 to 50.6.
Georgia also remains uncalled, although Trump led there as well since earlier in the evening.
Vermont has re-elected Republican Gov. Phil Scott to a fifth term, and the New Hampshire governor’s race has not yet been called.
As of 10:32, Trump is leading in North Carolina by more than six points.
