(Oct. 1, 2024) — In what will likely be a singular face-to-face meeting, vice presidential candidates JD Vance (R) and Tim Walz (D) will participate in a pre-election debate Tuesday night beginning at 9:00 p.m. EDT.
Walz, 60, is current and two-term governor of Minnesota and served in the Army National Guard. Vance, 40, is serving his first term as a U.S. senator from Ohio and served in the U.S. Marines.
CBS News is hosting the event from New York, which will be moderated by Norah O’Donnell and Margaret Brennan and is scheduled to run for 90 minutes.
Live-streaming is available on CBS’s website and YouTube channel. Fox News and other outlets will broadcast the debate simultaneously.
Microphones will remain unmuted and there will be no live audience, The Washington Examiner reported. CBS pledged not to “fact-check” either candidate as occurred during the September 10 presidential debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
Harris became the Democrat presidential nominee several days after White House incumbent Joe Biden issued a letter on X saying he was withdrawing from his re-election campaign.
