Dear Editor,
The more I hear Australian PM Anthony Albanese and any of his government ministers speaking of Australia’s great support for Israel and/or lukewarm condemnation of Palestinians’ support for Hamas, the more I’m reminded of that Turkish adage:
“The forest was shrinking but the trees kept voting for the axe, for the axe was clever and convinced the trees that because his handle was made of wood, he was one of them,” and of Oscar Wilde’s: “The truth is rarely pure, and never simple”.
