(Jul. 21, 2024) — In light of Joe Biden’s announced withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race Sunday afternoon, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) called for Biden to resign the presidency “immediately.”
On “X,” formerly Twitter, Johnson wrote:
At this unprecedented juncture in American history, we must be clear about what just happened. The Democrat Party forced the Democrat nominee off the ballot, just over 100 days before the election.
Having invalidated the votes of more than 14 million Americans who selected Joe Biden to be the Democrat nominee for president, the self-proclaimed ‘party of democracy’ has proven exactly the opposite.
The party’s prospects are no better now with Vice President Kamala Harris, who co-owns the disastrous policy failures of the Biden Administration. As second in command and a completely inept border czar, Harris has been a gleeful accomplice — not only in the destruction of American sovereignty, security, and prosperity, but also in the largest political coverup in U.S. history. She has known for as long as anyone of his incapacity to serve.
Regardless of the chaos in the current White House, our adversaries around the globe should be reminded that the U.S. Congress, the U.S. military, and the American people are fully prepared and committed to defend our interests both at home and abroad.
If Joe Biden is not fit to run for President, he is not fit to serve as President. He must resign the office immediately. November 5 cannot arrive soon enough.
An intense pressure campaign waged by Biden’s fellow Democrats culminated Sunday afternoon in his announcement he would not seek re-election despite recent numerous statements to the contrary from his campaign.
In 2020, Biden said given his age he would be a one-term president.
In late December, now-Republican presidential nominee and 45th president Donald J. Trump told Breitbart News he did not envision Biden or Harris being the respective Democrat nominees.
“When you compare him today to 15 or 20 years ago, he’s a different kind of a guy,” Breitbart reported Trump remarked of Biden. “The guy can’t talk. The guy can’t put two sentences together. So I do think this: I cannot believe he’s going to be the nominee. I hope he is. But I can’t believe he’s going to be the nominee….“I don’t think that Biden will make it to the gate,”
Of Harris, Trump told the outlet, “There’s a whole thing that it has to be Kamala because of the whole deal with [Clyburn]. I don’t think they’ll get her by.”
After Biden made the revelation, Trump, who was nearly killed in an assassination attempt July 13, gave a 90-minute speech at last week’s Republican National Convention and held a rally in Michigan Saturday evening, posted on his TruthSocial account, “Crooked Joe Biden is the Worst President, by far, in the History of our Nation. He has done everything possible to destroy our Country, from our Southern Border, to Energy Dominance, National Security, International Standing, and so much more. He was annihilated in an Earth Shattering Debate, and now the Corrupt and Radical Democrats are throwing him overboard. He was not fit to serve from the very beginning, but the people around him lied to America about his Complete and Total Mental, Physical, and Cognitive Demise. Whoever the Left puts up now will just be more of the same. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
A second comment reads, “Crooked Joe just got knocked out, so now I’ll have to do it a FOURTH TIME!!!”
Three more Trump campaign statements followed capitalizing on Biden’s withdrawal, one of which reads, “Make no mistake about it: BIDEN DROPPED OUT THANKS TO YOUR SUPPORT!”
Were that to happen the Speaker should file an emergency motion with the SCOTUS to have Harris’s eligibility adjudicated. Mrs. Harris would have to overcome a lot in a court case, the Constitution’s Naturalization Act, Congressional Resolution 511 and a SCOTUS majority opinion all of which don’t support her as a Natural Bon Citizen.
