(Jan. 27, 2024) — Most folks are aware that many of our rights (our freedom) have been eroding over several generations. A degree of this erosion may be attributed simply to the crushing weight of various federal programs; other causes are rather insidious but nevertheless direct and effective with their designed intent to stifle religious worship.

During the recent pandemic, unelected federal bureaucrats labeled houses of worship as “non-essential,” directing their closure while allowing liquor stores to remain open for business. A more recent and startling example occurred on January 23, 2023, when a Mr. Kyle Seraphin, a former special FBI agent, made public an FBI document crafted in their Richmond, VA field office. The memo’s purpose was designed to target alleged white supremacists within the Catholic Church who were sympathetic to the celebration of holy mass in Latin. Thankfully, a group of congressmen are continuing their probe of the FBI to determine to what extent they may have violated our rights.

Our religious leaders must never, ever again kneel and bow to the whims of the bureaucracy. If we do not fight for the right to pray and worship when and where we please, none of our other rights, not one, are worth the paper they are written on.

I agree with your premise. Freedom of speech and assembly is a foundation of our Constitution
I was raised Roman Catholic and I have learned through personal experiences,as well as, second hand first accounts of the systemic abuses of the Church.
I believe that the institution is antithetical to the teaching of Jesus. Would Jesus, who washed the feet of the apostles ever have required believers to kiss his ring. The Pope does not represent Jesus the true Messiah
That being said no religious belief should be denied their right to speak or assemble
