Spread the love

Dear Editor,

I ask if the chair and board of Cricket Australia will be as slow to act over pro-Palestine messaging by a Muslim Australian Test Cricketer as the AFL was on its own security’s ignorance in wanting to nab (and confiscate) the flag of democratic, Western-society Israel being waved in support of a young Jewish AFL Footballer?

Or will you do what’s right and proper, not only by Australian cricket, but by Australia’s great debt to Jewish Australians such as WWI’s greatest general, Sir John Monash, and Sir Peter Isaacson, WWII Bomber Command war-hero over Nazi Germany with enough Aussie larrikinism to risk flying a Lancaster bomber under the Sydney Harbour Bridge? Will you do right by all Jewish Australians’ great double-centuries’-long contributions to the law, medicine, the arts, politics, the military, business, science, education, music (Michael Gudinski-wise), philanthropy, etc, etc?!

Relevant to global population (a mere 17 million people worldwide), what group of people has ever done more for Western societies the likes of Australia?

So, before you ultimately give permission for a Muslim Australian cricketer to tout pro-Palestinian wording (in the colours of the Palestinian flag), just consider the true meaning of “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free!”

Will you all now have a very good look in the mirror (as the always pro-Muslim AFL should) and make a very loud public statement on behalf of so many past and present great Jewish Australians?!

Yours,

Howard Hutchins
Victoria, Australia
