Report: Justice Dept. Wants Devon Archer to Report to Prison

(Jul. 30, 2023) — Maria Bartiromo of “Sunday Morning Futures” broke news this morning when she reported that the U.S. Department of Justice has asked a federal judge to impose a prison sentence handed down following conviction on Devon Archer, a former Hunter Biden associate who was found guilty early last year of carrying out a scheme to defraud an Indian tribe and is scheduled to testify privately to the House Oversight Committee Monday morning.

Regarding Archer’s anticipated testimony, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer told Bartiromo during the program’s first segment that Archer has an opportunity to “tell the truth” so that Joe Biden’s involvement or lack thereof in his son’s overseas business deals will be laid bare.

Comer has said Joe Biden’s involvement rose to the level of “policy decisions” in exchange for millions of dollars in payments from foreign countries, some of them adversaries, while the elder Biden was vice president.

According to Miranda Devine of The New York Post, the publication which broke the story of the Hunter Biden laptop containing evidence that Joe Biden did, in fact, know of and participate in his son’s highly lucrative business associations with such countries as Romania, Ukraine, Russia and China, Archer is “prepared to testify” that “Hunter Biden would dial in his father, then-Vice President Joe Biden, on speakerphone into meetings with his overseas business partners.”

Joe Biden has insisted his son made “no money from China” and that he has “never spoken” to Hunter about his overseas business endeavors, which Comer has roundly criticized as false.

Comer has reported that based on bank records and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) obtained over the last six months, the Biden family received at least $20 million from foreign countries due to Hunter’s dealings for no discernible service provided.

In a July 24 press release, Comer wrote:

Joe Biden lied to the American people when he said he knew nothing about his son’s business dealings. Evidence continues to be revealed that Joe Biden was very much involved in his family’s corrupt influence peddling schemes and he likely benefited financially. This includes deals with a corrupt Ukrainian oligarch and a CCP-linked energy company that generated millions for the Bidens and undermined American interests.

It certainly appears that Joe Biden and his family put themselves first and Americans last, but corporate media and the Justice Department continue to cover up for the Bidens. The Oversight Committee will continue to follow the facts to provide the transparency and accountability that the American people demand and deserve. We look forward to speaking soon with Devon Archer about Joe Biden’s involvement in his family’s business affairs.”

In early June, Archer’s appeal of the conviction failed.

When the case was first heard in 2018, Judge Ronnie Abrams disposed of the jury’s finding and granted Archer a new trial, a decision reversed by the Second Circuit Court of Appeals which reimposed the conviction.

Two of Archer’s business associates were convicted as a result of the scheme. Hunter Biden, though “vice chairman of the financial services company” involved, was not charged.

In 2014 Archer and Hunter Biden had been members of the Board of Directors of Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company which was under investigation by Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin, who Joe Biden admitted to having fired as a condition of a U.S.-based loan guarantee to Ukraine.

At 10:55 a.m. EDT, Devine told Bartiromo that Archer will divulge “an absolute bombshell” on Monday.

Thus far, the media has not reported on Justice’s unusual Saturday move.
