(Jul. 14, 2023) — The child climbed up on her granddad’s lap. “Tell me a story,” she begged.
The old man smiled and drew her close as he kissed her golden head.

“And what shall I tell, my darling girl? What would you like to hear?
A tale of pirates on the sea, or a maiden with no tear?”

“Oh, none of those I’ve heard before. Tell me something new!”
The man began, “As you wish, and I will make it true.

“Not long ago a little child stole an old man’s heart.
She kept it wound around a string, and that was just the start.

“The string was tied on her pinky and bounced to her delight.
She’d fling it high into the air and watch his heart take flight.”

The child laughed, “A perfect tale! But, tell me, what’s the end?”
“That’s not yet writ’, but, guaranteed, he’ll always be her friend!”
