With just six more sleeps until 26th January, we’re blinded by Invasion Emotion, which distracts us from the real issue. We’re suffering from ‘Citizenship Paralysis’. Immigrants obtain Australian citizenship certificates while retaining their citizenship in their motherland, including people from communist countries. We don’t have Australian citizenship certificates for those born in Australia – we have birth certificates from a State or Territory. Shouldn’t we all be offended? Let’s all get behind the removal of 26th January and demand the introduction of Australian Birth Certificates and Citizenship Certificates backdated to 1st January 1901 – on the proviso that the only dual citizenship this country will accept is that of the Australian US alliance.
