Twitter Files, Part 6 Released

(Dec. 16, 2022) — At approximately 4:00 p.m. EST, Journalist Matt Taibbi released the sixth installment of “Twitter Files” from the company’s new CEO, Elon Musk, presented in Taibbi’s timeline in 45 tweets in backward chronological order.

Tweet #24 shows coordination between a Twitter attorney working under former FBI General Counsel James Baker, then a lead Twitter attorney, and the FBI, Justice Department, Department of Homeland Security and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) on “election-related work” in September 2020, approximately two months prior to the November 3 presidential election.

After Taibbi’s release of the first installment of Twitter Files December 2, he reported he found no evidence of coordination between Twitter and any government entities on the Hunter Biden laptop story, which Twitter immediately censored. However, on December 6, after discovering Baker was removing archived documentation showing just that activity, Musk abruptly fired him.

Last Sunday former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe told Maria Bartiromo on “Sunday Morning Futures” that while members of his staff met with a number of companies prior to the 2020 election, the discussions would not have included “content moderation.”

In an email to Baker dated September 16, 2020, subordinate Stacia Cardille provided an enumeration of the “elections-related work” she accomplished that day, which included a meeting with Twitter “Legal, Trust & Safety, and Public Policy” “to discuss an intervention under consideration regarding labeling election results,” among other tasks.

Taibbi labeled the installment “The FBI Subsidiary,” expounding with, “Twitter’s contact with the FBI was constant and pervasive, as if it were a subsidiary.”
