(Dec. 15, 2022) — At approximately 11:00 a.m. EST Thursday, 45th President of the United States Donald J. Trump posted on his TruthSocial account that “official” trading cards bearing his name and moments from his “life and career” are now available for purchase through a new website, “collecttrumpcards.com/.”
The announcement mirrors the preview he provided Wednesday in a short video wherein a likeness of himself was dressed as a Superman-like figure standing in front of Trump Tower, with Trump remarking, ““AMERICA NEEDS A SUPERHERO!”
When landing on the new website, a two-minute video in which Trump promotes the “NFT” card collection and a prize contest is available via a red flashing “PLAY” button at the bottom of the screen.
“Hello, everyone, this is Donald Trump,” the video begins, “hopefully your favorite president of all time; better than Lincoln, better than Washington, with an important announcement to make. I’m doing my first official Donald J. Trump NFT collection right here and right now. They’re called, ‘Trump Digital Trading Cards.’ These cards feature some of the really incredible artwork pertaining to my life and my career; it’s been very exciting. You can collect your Trump digital cards just like a baseball card or other collectibles.”
“One of the best parts,” he continued, is that “each card comes with an automatic chance to win amazing prizes like dinner with me…or golf with you and a group of your friends at one of my beautiful golf courses…”
“I’m also doing Zoom calls, a one-on-one meeting, autographing memorabilia and so much more,” he added.
The cards are $99 and make “perfect gifts,” Trump said. “Buy one and you will join a very exclusive community; it’s my community,” he said. “Buy your Trump Digital Trading Cards right now before they are all gone, and they will be gone…”
However, a disclaimer states there is “no purchase necessary” to enter the sweepstakes.
A “How To” page explains that a customer can choose the number of cards he wishes to buy and that the purchase is delivered to a “digital wallet.” A footnote on the page provides instructions for entering the sweepstakes without making a purchase.
According to simplilearn, “NFT” stands for “non-fungible token.” NFTs can protect from unauthorized replication of artwork or other items posted online, according to the site’s explanatory video.
According to Forbes.com, “An NFT is a digital asset that can come in the form of art, music, in-game items, videos, and more. They are bought and sold online, frequently with cryptocurrency, and they are generally encoded with the same underlying software as many cryptos.”
The “Terms and Conditions” page of the new website states that “The website located at www.CollectTrumpCards.com (the “Website”) is the intellectual property of NFT INT, LLC.”
On November 15, Trump announced he would seek the Republican nomination for the presidential race in 2024.
