(Oct. 15, 2022) — For decades now, the world’s population has been lectured on “climate change” and that the theoretical changes put forth pose an existential threat to mankind’s existence.  However, you may have noted that the spokespersons for the “climate alarmist” camp are not scientists at all, e.g., Al Gore, Barack Obama, John Kerry, Greta Thunberg, Sen. Markey, etc.  The left-leaning alarmist’s strategy is as old as time itself: Tell a big enough lie, tell it often enough through many different venues, and for many, the lie becomes the truth.

The left’s objective is clear enough: craft legislation that would invoke a mandatory “carbon tax” on every living person, and since we all use carbon-based materials in one form or another, such legislation would allow the government absolute control over virtually every facet of our lives.

Now, there is another camp of real scientists who we identify as “climate skeptics,” and many, if not most, are PhDs!   The real climate experts have written thousands of articles and books on the subject that clearly and incontrovertibly refute the unfounded and unsubstantiated claims of the cult-like alarmists.  You’ll likely remember some of their hysterical claims, e.g., 97% of all scientists agree with them; the polar bear population is in serious decline; the oceans will boil; low-lying areas like Manhattan Island will be under water by 2020, etc., etc.  All are completely false and/or previously refuted.

A few weeks back, you may have seen a short article regarding a chunk of Antarctic glacial ice the size of Florida, likely to slide into the ocean.  The alleged impact would cause the ocean levels to rise several feet.  Clearly absurd on the surface because Florida is merely a speck when viewed from a global perspective, and since 70% of Earth’s surface is covered with water, the rise would not be measurable. At about the same time, The Wall Street Journal ran a piece on that very subject titled, “Don’t Believe the Hype about Antarctic’s Melting Glaciers,” authored by Dr. Steven E. Koonin.  Lastly, we’ve heard the term “settled science” ad nauseum; however, science is never settled unless the theory is PROVABLE and REPEATABLE, period.  Along those lines, you may want to read Dr. Koonin’s recent (2021) book, “UNSETTLED,” the theme of which is, “what climate science tells us, what it doesn’t, and why it matters.”

That brings us to energy sources.  A few generations have been brainwashed into believing that nuclear power is evil and dangerous.  More lies: nuclear is proven to be safe and inexpensive with proper regulation and the use of modern technology; oh, and it doesn’t produce carbon dioxide.  Another WSJ article seems to bring a ray of light to the subject. Westinghouse’s AP1000 was approved by the NRC 18 years ago, but we elected to waste decades and trillions of dollars on wind turbines and solar panels when nuclear technology was available, and we could have advanced hydrogen cell technology as well.

Following folks who may mean well but obviously lack knowledge and wisdom is the act of a fool.  In a few short weeks, we’ll have a golden opportunity to leave the road to serfdom on which we presently find ourselves and turn to a saner and brighter future.  Are you ready?

  1. Thank you for the nuclear power article.
I retired years ago from a still operating nuclear power plant which produces about 40% of the electricity required for the state of Arkansas. The plant first went on line in 1975 and has gotten several NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) license extensions, the last one to operate until 2030 with a request to operate until 2050. Nothing else comes close to providing the safe and reliable electrical power of nuclear power and I am glad I was part of starting-up and operating the plants, both as an NRC licensed operator and as an operations instructor. Nuclear power even works when the wind doesn’t blow and the sun doesn’t shine…….Imagine that!!
