(Jan. 6, 2022) — … until compliance is achieved.  OK, that’s not altogether original with your humble servant, but it sets the stage for what follows.

With each passing day, the Left’s pogrom against “unvaccinated” Americans takes on more sinister overtones.  The Goofball at 1600 foolishly persists in mislabeling the global problems associated with the Wuhan virus – facilitated in no small measure by funding “gain of function” research by Anthony Fauci’s National Institutes of Health [sic] – as a “pandemic of the unvaccinated.”

The flogging madness metastasizes…, but then again, you expected something different from the Goof?

Recently, one Arthur Caplan, the Director of Medical Ethics at the Grossman School of Medicine, New York University, advocated that not enough was being done to coerce, intimidate and threaten the “unvaccinated.”

Caplan – much like “Dr.” Jill Biden – is not a medical doctor.  Instead, he holds a PhD in the history and philosophy of science from Columbia University. Thus, he is presumably not bound by the Hippocratic Oath – not to mention the protocols of the Nuremberg Code – assuming that even medical doctors any longer consider themselves bound by the oath.

The Hippocratic Oath is generally seen as a set of ethical principles and solemn promises – hence the term “oath” – undertaken by medical doctors in order to protect and serve the interests of their patients.  However, those who are not bound by those protocols are free to ignore them.

Arthur Caplan’s recent interview with CNN talking head anchor John Berman underscores the veracity of that claim.

During the interview (watch it yourself), Caplan emphasizes that, as to those persons who for whatever reason do not wish to voluntarily “get the jab”: “When you’re fighting a war, you need all hands on deck.  I don’t want to reject those who still haven’t done the right thing. I’ll condemn them. I’ll shame them. I’ll blame them. But I don’t want to exclude them. They’ve got to come around.”

Caplan continued: “We can penalize … [the unvaccinated] more, we can say you got to pay more on your hospital bill if you weren’t vaccinated. You can’t get life insurance or disability insurance at affordable rates if you aren’t vaccinated. Those companies should not treat us as equals in terms of what the financial burdens are that that disease imposes. So I can think of a number of ways in which we should say here’s the stick, get on board,…  It’s a war, you’ve gotta have all your troops unified if we’re ever gonna win it.”

Where to start?

First, tell me again that all of this totalitarian invective is coming from someone who professes an interest in “ethics.”  Since when does condemnation, shaming and blaming persons exercising their constitutional personal rights to bodily medical autonomy constitute “ethical” behavior?  In Caplan’s case, apparently that time is now.

Second, while “incentives” and “inducements” to “persuade” people to get vaccinated are one thing, threats of punitive measures upon noncompliance are quite another.  Caplan minces no words: instead of saying, “Here’s the carrot [an inducement, an incentive or perhaps a monetary bonus], c’mon and get on board,” he flat-out commands: “Here’s the [flogging] stick, get on board.”  This command gives new meaning to the term “ethical.”

Third, what other “number of ways” might Caplan have in mind to force people into compliance?  How about mandating that the right to vote will be recognized only to those who are “fully vaccinated?”  How about denying social security payments to the unvaccinated?  How about confiscating the 401k and IRA retirement savings accounts of the unvaccinated?

If you think those punitive “remedies” are off the table today, reconsider them if the Democrats succeed in packing the Supreme Court with additional justices of the same mindset as Caplan and if the Congress remains imprisoned in the iron grip of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer.

And before dismissing those potential “sticks” that Caplan would presumably consider, recall that the Democrats have already tried some of them…, and at a time when the “never-let-a-crisis-go-to-waste” Wuhan pandemic was but a “gain of function” twinkle in Anthony Fauci’s eye.

Finally, as for Caplan’s claim that we are “at war” and that we need “all hands on deck” in order to defeat the pandemic, that exhortation would make a lot more sense and carry far more weight if we had a commander-in-chief of the “all hands on deck” who (1) knew the difference between 2020 and 2022; (2) better controlled his lower colon digestive processes; and (3) understood the true meaning of “Let’s Go Brandon!

Memo to the Goof: in private, ask Dr. Jill what “Let’s Go Brandon” means.
