Dear Editor,
Sadly today, so many Christians are not prepared to “come out of the closet” with respect to their Christianity in today’s “modern” Western society. Some are embarrassed to admit that they have been – good or bad! – Christians all their lives; as I have – starting in Sunday School, church, Christian Boys’ Society, the choir and altar assistance. Also, RI at primary and secondary school. However, suddenly, many of us Christians are making our voices heard, as we see increasing hedonism (although I did burn my first house down at eleven!) in the guise of secularism creeping into our Judeo-Christian-based Western society.
If many/most of us Christians (and not all Christians do!) object to homosexual “marriage” and/or “parenting,” we’re labelled by many SP (Secular Progressive, but really “Spiritual Prohibitionist”) journos as latent, hypocritically closeted homosexuals ourselves! Christians (and there are also plenty of non-believers!) raising such objections are not personally attacking homosexual people, who are what they are! We simply do not accept that the sanctified marriage union is anything other than the natural union of man and wife. And we believe that children should only ever be raised by a mother and a father: the cornerstone of Western society! And certainly not in defiance of “The Wisdom of the Ages”!
Today, if you profess to be a Christian, many people immediately consider you a “happie-clappie,” recently “re-birthed” into the faith, or some queer bod “talking in tongues” like an auctioneer at an inner-city yuppie holy dollar-worshipping-house auction!
Now as a Christian, I don’t see Jesus’s reflection – smiling back up at me – in my morning brekkie Fruit Loops’ milk; nor do I see Jesus sitting on the tip of an A380 wing at 43,000 feet singing a duet with the Archangel Gabriel – in time with Gabriel’s magnificent harp ensemble! And I certainly don’t see Jesus rap-dancing/skate-boarding through every intersection when ( I am not He is) stopped at the traffic lights!
And finally, why do so many showbiz/TV/movie star, sporting, political, MSM, intelligentsia, etc. “elites” so very greatly fear the Man who always turned His other cheek (and the Man which so many of the preceding “chaff-head celeb set” members so facetiously refer to as an “invisible friend”)?
Perhaps it is they with more hang-ups than an Imelda Marcos wardrobe?
As those who boldly and proudly sin have come out of the closet… believers have silently taken their place.
We must “stand therefore” [Ephesians 6:10-18] humbly… not proudly or judgmentally… in the power of His Word… He who is the Way… the Truth… the Life!
