(Jun. 26, 2021) — Seriously?  Faithful P&E readers, did you see the latest stumble-bumble excuse for a press conference by the Goofball-in-Chief – for brevity, let us invent and deploy an acronym: the “GIC” – where he starts whispering in response to questions?  Really?  “Bizarre” does not come close to describing his increasingly addled behavior.  And we thought Mr. Magoo was weird.

But it is far worse than just bizarre: remember that this sorry excuse for a Commander-in- Chief – now the undisputed laughingstock buffoon of the planet – is the clown with access to the missile launch codes kept in the nuclear football.  Yikes.

Couple his whisperer brain petard with his misguided and befuddled announcement that he will attack gun “violence” by going after gun dealers, and the scene gets disturbing.  In that speech, he wandered into some very dangerous territory, reminding would-be Second Amendment adherents that if they seek to take on the government, they might be met with F-15’s and nuclear weapons.

Ummmmm…, does the GIC really believe that, if and when “push came to shove,” those who really control the F-15’s and the nation’s nuclear arsenal – not the Pentagon élites – would follow his orders to turn them against Americans?  Has he been sampling Hunter’s stash of parmesan cheese?  Yet to be confirmed is the rumor that one effect of snorting that stuff is an occasional lapsing into voice whispering during normal conversations.

Specifically, in his “F-15’s and nukes” remarks, the GIC first blundered through part of Thomas Jefferson’s famous “tree of liberty” quote, then fulminated on about gun dealers not complying with the law by selling guns to prohibited people.

Oddly, he failed to make mention – perhaps it was just another brain fluff – of that time when his son Hunter (“Mr. M&M’s” Biden lied on the federal firearms background check form when purchasing a gun.

Rather than repeat the GIC’s mangling of Jefferson’s quote – which for readers’ amusement can be viewed here – let us present the full and accurate quote, in full context, for review against the backdrop of his not-so-thinly veiled “F-15’s and nuclear weapons” threat.

The original quote comes from a Nov. 13, 1787 letter Jefferson wrote to William Stevens Smith, John Adams’ son-in-law.  The letter addressed Shays’ Rebellion in Massachusetts and Jefferson’s reaction to it in the larger context of the new Republic being formed in Philadelphia.  The rebellion involved the State of Massachusetts’ efforts to collect on debts incurred by farmers for credits extended during the Revolutionary War and underscored the tensions between the farmers and an oppressive governmental exercise of power.

The full quote, in the context of the letter, reads thusly: “And what country can preserve it’s [sic] liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance?  Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is it’s [sic] natural manure.” (Emphasis added)

The GIC seems to think that the only way of taking on his stupidity is through violence and that – ominously – his adversaries better be prepared to be met with nukes and F-15’s.  As they say, the pen is mightier than the sword, but if pens don’t suffice, then at some point, other mechanisms may be needed.

If President Trump had made such a not-so-veiled threat, there would be political and media screams of outrage and demands for another impeachment by sundown.  Bet the farm on it.  This episode – and the silent insouciance of the mainstream media – only underscores the abject double standard and hypocrisy which now substitutes for objective journalism in this once-principled Republic.  No more.  Nazi Third Reich Minister of Propaganda Joseph Goebbels would be proud.

If the Goof and his almost certainly constitutionally-ineligible sidekick think that it is only the blood of patriots which would refresh and nourish the tree of liberty…, they should read the rest of the quote…, especially the parts about people taking up arms and the “blood of tyrants.”

And if either the GIC or the sidekick needs a teleprompter to do it, so be it.  And, by the way, the Goof needs to lay off the parmesan.
