(Mar. 15, 2021) — Mitsubishi ASX (Outlander Sport) was first introduced in 2012. This car is a crossover car that is quite popular with its dynamic and sporty design which comes in 3 variants, namely GLX, GLS, and the highest one is the PX. This car is also known to have a responsive and efficient car engine.

In the crossover car segment, the Mitsubishi ASX is a rival for the Chevrolet Trax, Ford Ecosport, Honda HR-V, Nissan Juke, Suzuki SX4 S-Cross, Hyundai Tucson, KIA Sportage, and Mazda CX-3. If you compare the engine, which is quite large (2000 cc), this car can also be compared with the Honda CR-V 2.0 and Nissan X Trail 2.0.

Something You Must Know About Mitsubishi ASX

So what makes this car is special? Here is some updated news about Mitsubishi ASX that you have to know.

1. Exterior Design

If you look at the front design of the Mitsubishi ASX, the sporty and dynamic impression stands out with the jetfighter nose design like the one in the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO. The straight lines on the hood integrated into the front grille reinforce the true design of a compact crossover.

This compact design is what makes the Mitsubishi ASX able to provide convenience and practicality in exploring cities and other terrains. This car is also provided with a pair of headlamps with Super Wide HID which can provide good street lighting at night.

2. Interior Design

This car shows a luxurious and sporty impression with the use of high-quality materials on the seats, dashboard, to display information on the driver and entertainment features. You can also find a 7-inch touchscreen Head Unit that supports a USB port as well as Bluetooth and wireless connectivity as multimedia features.

The steering wheel uses a 3-spoke model which is also used on the Pajero Sport with Audio Control and paddle shifters. For the Mitsubishi ASX PX, there is a panoramic roof which further shows the impression of luxury.

3. Engine Performance

The Mitsubishi ASX is provided with a powerful 2.0L 4B11 MIVEC DOHC engine in a 4-cylinder inline 16 valve configuration. The maximum power generated reaches 148 PS at 6,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 197 Nm at 4200 rpm. Power is channelled to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission and CVT INVECS III with Sports Mode.

Even though the automatic transmission uses a CVT, the sophisticated transmission feels responsive at kick down, especially if you use the paddle shift. For the 2000 cc engine. Mitsubishi ASX can cover a distance of 15 km for 1 litre for trips out of town.

Moving to the handling, this amazing car has good enough handling for a crossover car, although we can still feel the body roll when cornering. However, this is understandable because of the high ground clearance and it is still quite comfortable to manoeuvre. The suspension used is quite soft, so you will feel comfortable while driving this car.

The body roll when cornering is due to its high center of gravity (majority of weight high off the ground) and high roll-axis (geometric straight line between the roll-centers of the front and rear suspension). Couple those with a soft (car like) suspension and you have a vehicle that, while comfortable to drive, is inherently prone to be incontrollable when making an emergency maneuver. It’s basic physics, and it applies to literally all SUVs.
