One of the best ways to learn about Islam is from courageous former Muslims, who have lived it and left it. Having renounced Islam, they already have a target on their backs; yet these heroes have a passion for waking up the non-Muslim world which, in turn, increases the danger to these authors.
Following is a brief list of apostates whose books and videos are completely candid and written from heart-wrenching personal experience.
Sam Solomon is a former sharia scholar as well as a brilliant speaker and author. A particularly timely book of his is Modern Day Trojan Horse: The Islamic Doctrine of Immigration, which covers the rules of migration from Muhammad to modern day. You may be surprised to learn the pronouncements of sharia on immigration to non-Muslim lands.
Nonie Darwish has made many videos, addressed audiences, and written several books, one of which is Cruel and Usual Punishment, in which she peels away layers of the onion. She explains, for instance, consequences of polygamy such as the fact that men who are left without women are more determined to become martyrs to earn their 72 virgins.
Dr. Wafa Sultan, in her book, A God Who Hates, migrated from Syria to America, and contrasts the two cultures in a personal and riveting way.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali recounts her experience with Female Genital Mutilation and escaping an arranged marriage in Infidel.
Mark Gabriel is a former imam and professor of Muslim history at Al-Azhar University. In his book, Islam and Terrorism, Gabriel recounts his family’s attempt to kill him when he renounced Islam.
Given the price these authors continue to pay for their apostasy from Islam, please take advantage of the courage of these and other apostates to learn about Islam and educate others.
