(Dec. 8, 2020) — At 2:00 p.m. EST, President Donald Trump provided additional details on “Operation Warp Speed,” his program launched earlier this year to assist private companies in developing safe and effective vaccines for the coronavirus, or “COVID-19,”a virus emanating in Wuhan Province, China, and spread throughout the world.
“We’re working with the world,” Trump said at 2:20 in regard to coordination of vaccine distribution. However, he stressed that he will be signing an executive order prioritizing administration of the vaccine to Americans first.
He said he believes the arrival of vaccines will vanquish “the scourge” and reminded those watching that the media had scoffed at the idea that a vaccine could be manufactured by the end of 2020.
“Nobody thought this was possible,” he said.
At 2:25, he said “leaders” in the effort would look on while he signed the order.
Ending his remarks then, he took questions from journalists, the first of whom asked why the administration held “Halloween parties” wherein attendees were not wearing masks COVID-19 masks in the wake of an increase in cases around the country.
Trump replied that such gatherings have diminished and, when a reporter referred to “the next administration” having the responsibility of distributing the vaccines,” he said he hoped “the next administration” will be “the Trump administration” in keeping with his stance that he won the November 3 election and not Democratic contender Joe Biden.
“We won the ‘swing’ states. You can’t steal hundreds of thousands of votes…look at all the corruption..” he began to elaborate, then stating that he hopes that a legislator, Justice of the Supreme Court or another elected official “has the courage” to take action against the “fraud” of the election.
