MULVANEY TO ASSUME “SPECIAL ENVOY” ROLE

(Mar. 6, 2020) — Several minutes after 8:00 p.m. EST, President Trump tweeted his appreciation to current Acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, a former congressman and Acting Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
Trump followed up with a second tweet declaring Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC11), who announced he would not be running for re-election in December, as the next chief of staff.
Meadows had said in a number of interviews since then that he he would be taking a position within the Trump administration.
On February 7, The New York Post reported that the administration denied claims made by CNN that it planned to “oust” Mulvaney due to a loss of confidence.
In Trump’s first tweet, he announced that Mulvaney “will become the United States Special Envoy for Northern Ireland.”
Meadows will become Trump’s fourth chief of staff, following Mulvaney; his predecessor, Gen. John Kelly (Ret); and former RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.
