POLITICIANS SOME OF THE WORST OFFENDERS
by OPOVV, ©2020
(Feb. 24, 2020) — “Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to another exciting show of ‘The Pulse of the Nation,’ the place to hear it here first so you don’t have to hear it anywhere else. Today’s question: ‘Would you hire a known liar?’
“That reminds me of a story: I worked for a construction company for a summer. I started with about ten other guys and about a week later the foreman came around and told two guys that they were fired. It turned out that one of the questions on the application was ‘ever convicted of a DUI’ and it turned out that those two lied.
“So I was thinking that if a lowly Florida construction company had enough integrity to fire any employee who lied on the application, why hasn’t the so-called prestigious Harvard University fired Elizabeth Warren? I don’t know the answer; I mean, there is no answer, no excuse they can make to keep a known liar employed, at least to my way of thinking.
“And one more thought before we start interviewing our neighbors: remember the day after Bernie Sanders started to support Hillary in 2016? Coincidentally he got a lakefront house in New Hampshire, so where is Bernie’s integrity in that equation? And then there’s the question of why would a millionaire with three houses be an advocate of Socialism? For what possible reason could Bernie make government control advantageous to himself, let alone anybody?
“Okay, what do you say we get to work? Hello, my name is Roving, and welcome to ‘Pulse.’ Excuse me, please, care to be interviewed on live TV?”
“Well, yes, I mean I’ve been standing here waiting for five minutes.”
“So you have and we want to thank you for your patience. Did you happen to hear the question of the day?”
“I did and I agree: Harvard should have fired Pocahontas the day they found out she lied about being an Indian, just as the NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell, should have fired Colin Kaepernick for kneeling during the national anthem, disrespecting every Veteran who ever fought for the flag.”
“If you owned a company and discovered an employee lied on his application, would you fire that person?”
“In a heartbeat. Look, Roving, when a witness is in the stand and is caught in a lie, it kind-of erases anything they may have said. Isn’t that how it works?”
“That’s how it works, and he waved goodbye as the train pulled in. What do you say we take a break for a commercial?”

“Excuse me, please, Roving for “’Pulse,’ the ever-popular and enjoyable information show.”
“Oh, really, then how come I haven’t heard of you?”
“I don’t know; where you from?”
“That explains it. Okay, how about I ask you a question and you answer me; how does that sound?”
“Does that count as a question?”
“No. Would you hire a known liar?”
“Not me, but my neighbors would; after all, they hired Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff, didn’t they? Come to think of it, they rehired them, too. Pelosi for lying about Obama’s BIRTH CERTIFICATE; Schiff for every time he opens his mouth. Excuse me, but this is my train.”
“And off he goes. By the way, we’re on a corner, across the street from a train station, under an awning, in one of the suburbs where we bother people on their way to the big city. Excuse me, Miss, Roving here for ‘Pulse.’”
“How may I help you?”
“If you had an employee who lied on the job application, would you fire that person?”
“Faster than you can say Jack Robinson.”
“By the way, who was this ‘Jack Robinson’ character, anyway?”
“He was the sheriff, around 1670, who put people in the Tower of London in a heartbeat and had them executed faster than you could say his name: Jack Robinson.”
“The things you learn from strangers. See you around after this commercial break.”

“We’re back with Cara who is an archivist for the city. What does an archivist do for the city, Cara?”
“Well, first of all, we make sure that the communications between the different departments in the city are up-to-date. We check that the building permits are in agreement with all the other codes; for instance, land use and subdivisions. We wouldn’t want a developer taking advantage of us —now would we? — like maybe erecting more buildings than the land use allows, that sort of thing. Also we make sure that the tax assessor’s records are truthful, which is why we spend so much time out of the office: checking the address with what’s really on the property.”
“Can you give us an example of that?”
“Why just the other day I was checking an address that listed a one-car garage. They not only changed it to a two-car garage, but also had an apartment above it. Or a house converted into a duplex; that sort of thing.”
“Bet that keeps you pretty busy.”
“It certainly does. We’re out of the office by nine but always back by noon when we break for lunch and then write up the reports. We are never on the road after lunch, by the way, an unwritten rule that suits us fine.”
“Great. How about the reception the people of India gave Trump and our First Lady? See, the world loves Trump; the only ones who don’t are our very own mainstream media, and if you wanted any proof how out-to-lunch Bernie and the Democratic Party are, that’s it: the rest of the people of the world support freedom, as they should, and that’s the bottom line. Last thought: wash your hands and keep your hands away from your face; don’t smoke. Well, that’ll do it for this episode of ‘Pulse’ and so, on behalf of the crew, I’ll be wishing you all a goodnight: Goodnight.
“Good show that doesn’t say much for liars, does it? I was married to a woman who lied — she cheated on me, married the sleaze she cheated with so I’ve often wondered, since he knew she was an adulteress — if she ever would cheat on him. Wait, let me show you a bumper sticker: ‘Vote for Bernie then Eat your Dog.’ Burger time: my treat.”
