(Nov. 14, 2019) — Bridgeport, CT – Early Monday morning Mayor Ganim joined the Veterans Council of Greater Bridgeport, community members and local officials to honor veterans.

Events began with a flag raising at Veterans Memorial Park on the North End and ended at a Veterans Ceremony at Colonel Mucci Memorial Plaza in Downtown Bridgeport.

“For us to take a moment to recognize all the sacrifices made for our freedoms reminds us to thank a veteran and to do more to honor them,” stated Mayor Ganim.

Mayor Ganim joined Chief Thode, with the Bridgeport Fire Department and their Stratford, Milford, and Fairfield counterparts to present a check totaling $23,726 to Homes for the Brave; a Bridgeport not-for-profit dedicated to providing housing and services to veterans in need.

After recognizing the almost $30,000 in state and federal funding cuts the organization recently experienced, Homes for the Brave CEO Vincent Santilli said, “This is just incredible, and we couldn’t be more grateful.”
