(May 16, 2019) — At the opening of Thursday night’s “Hannity,” Fox News’s Bill Hemmer provided a brief overview and video clip of an in-person interview he conducted earlier in El Salvador with Attorney General William Barr.

Hemmer reported verbally and through the video clip that he asked Barr a number of questions about the Mueller Russia “collusion” investigation into the Trump campaign, whether or not U.S. government officials abused their authority, and the “answers” Barr said he received from individuals about the investigation since he was confirmed on February 14.

In March, Special Counsel Robert Mueller concluded his 22-month investigation, assumed from the FBIin May 2017, finding that no one in the Trump campaign engaged in a conspiracy with Russia to give Trump an election advantage.

Barr has since said he wants to probe whether or not the surveillance he said took place on the campaign by the U.S. intelligence community was “adequately predicated.”

Barr told Hemmer that the responses he has received were inconsistent with one another, causing him to have additional questions.

Hemmer said he also asked Barr about his reasons for traveling to El Salvador, stated as an effort to speak with Central-American cohorts to stop gang activities as well as trans-border human trafficking and drug movement.

The interview was also reported by The Hill‘s Joe Concha.

At 9:21 p.m. EDT, Hannity guest and Fox News Legal Analyst Gregg Jarrett said that because of Barr’s experience, “He can smell a cover-up a mile away.”
