(Sep. 24, 2018) — Amid hundreds of protesters in the halls and foyer of the Hart Senate Office Building on Monday, Fox News tweeted that U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and his wife Ashley will be Martha MacCallum’s guests on “The Story” during the 7:00 PM hour this evening.

The protesters, reportedly brought in by a number of left-leaning groups to include NARAL, Planned Parenthood, and others, say they support Kavanaugh accuser Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, who claims that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her at a party during the summer of 1982 when both were in high school.

Kavanaugh has denied the accusations and said in a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee early Monday afternoon that he will not withdraw his nomination and plans to clear his name in the newly-scheduled hearing on Thursday.

Ford’s allegation did not become public until after Kavanaugh sat through four days of sometimes grueling questioning by members of the committee comprising 11 Republicans and ten Democrats.  At that point, committee ranking member Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) produced a letter Ford allegedly wrote depicting her claim against Kavanaugh but stating that she wished to retain her anonymity.

One week ago, committee Chairman Chuck Grassley told Ford’s attorneys, who now number four, she could testify today, but lead attorney Debra Katz said that day was not “possible” for her client.

On Sunday night, another accuser who attended Yale Law School at the same time as Kavanaugh, came forward in an arguably sketchy account of an alleged encounter with Kavanaugh when she was admittedly drunk.

Los Angeles attorney Michael Avenatti claims to have a third accuser who reportedly claims to have first-hand knowledge that Kavanaugh and former high school acquaintance Mark Judge operated a sexual-abuse racket of some sort.

The FBI has performed six background checks on Kavanaugh and found no evidence of a criminal complaint.

Many of the protesters Monday held their fists in the air in what used to be a symbol of “black power” or the Black Panthers.  It has also been used to symbolize socialist workers’ movements throughout the world.

The protesters reportedly believe Ford without having met her and without her having provided testimony or corroboration of her 36-year-old claim.

For the past dozen years, Kavanaugh has sat on the U.S. District Court of Appeals for the District of Colombia. He once clerked for Anthony Kennedy, the associate Supreme Court Justice he will replace if confirmed, and served as White House staff secretary during the George W. Bush administration.

It was Bush who in 2006 nominated Kavanaugh to the federal bench, the confirmation process for which was unremarkable.
