TOPIC:  RECENT TENNESSEE PRISON ISSUES

by Sharon Rondeau

(Apr. 18, 2018) — David Tulis of the “Nooganomics” radio show will be hosting this writer on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. EDT to discuss recent developments in the federal lawsuit filed by Robert Z. Whipple, III against the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) for allegedly preventing him from accessing legal materials.

On April 12, a federal magistrate ordered a May 7, 2018 telephone conference among the parties in the case, which claims that the Department negotiated with the plaintiff about law library access at the Bledsoe County Correctional Complex (BCCX) in Pikeville.

Other aspects of Tennessee’s prison system and reports from specific inmates will be part of the discussion.

In the midst of that case and another active federal lawsuit against the TDOC, Whipple’s parole hearing was scheduled for Wednesday.

Tulis operates a website featuring local news, “free markets,” and liberty issues.  The radio show can be heard live at 92.7 FM in the greater Chattanooga area from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. ET. Podcasts are available on Facebook and YouTube.
