“HONESTY, INTEGRITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY”

by Sharon Rondeau

(Mar. 16, 2018) — Investigative reporter Sara Carter and The Washington Post reported just before 10:00 p.m. EDT that former FBI Deputy Director and one-time Acting Director Andrew McCabe has been terminated.

The FBI’s Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) recommended that McCabe be fired based on findings reported to have been made by the Justice Department’s inspector general, Michael Horowitz, who has been investigating allegations of wrongdoing at the agency for 14 months.

McCabe had been under investigation for possible violations of the Hatch Act surrounding his wife’s run for a Virginia state senate seat in 2015 in which McCabe appears to have participated politically.

McCabe is said to have been responsible for allowing a leak to The Wall Street Journal about an ongoing investigation and may also be facing criminal charges, according to Carter on “The Ingraham Angle,” which began airing at 10:00 p.m.

The final decision was left to Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

At 10:09 p.m., Ingraham read a statement received from the DOJ which said that all FBI agents must adhere to the standard of “honesty, integrity and accountability.”  The statement did not make any allegations against McCabe.

McCabe left the FBI in January under questionable circumstances and had reportedly visited the DOJ on Thursday in a last-ditch attempt to convince officials not to terminate him just before his retirement was to begin on Sunday.

McCabe submitted a statement which Ingraham read at 10:13 in which McCabe said that he and his family have been victimized “for the last 18 months.”  He faulted President Trump’s tweets and statements for fueling his persecution.
