“SELLING OUT AMERICA”

(Jan. 7, 2018) — “Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to ‘Pulse of the Nation,’ the info news show that’s read by all but seldom, if ever, referenced. But that’s okay; we’re not doing this for notoriety, but because we think that we’re doing some good; how much is anybody’s guess. Hello, my name is Roving and I’ll be your host for tonight’s show. It’s still way too cold to be standing on a street corner having Jack Frost gnawing at your nose, so we’re back at the downtown railroad station where at least there’s no wind chill. What we do is interview our neighbors and see what concerns them. Excuse me, Miss, care to be interviewed on ‘Pulse?’”
“Too cold to be out so, sure, I’ve got a few minutes. Watch your show and, for one, are entertained to the point of learning without even being aware of it. I never gave the Draft a moment’s thought, but now I think it’s a darn good idea. The fact of the matter is the world is becoming more dangerous with each passing day, people are getting dumber, and the news has become completely untrustworthy to the point where the demarcation between the mainstream media and the comedy channel is nonexistent. Oh, my name is Julie and I’m a secretary for the Egyptian Museum.”
“Were you around when the King Tut Exhibit came through?”
“Well, aren’t you cavalier; thank you. Yes, I was and I really enjoyed it, and thanks again to the government of Egypt for having the gumption to share such important and priceless artifacts leaving their country.”
“So here’s the question: how’s it going?”
“Can I say ‘to you-know-where in a handbasket?’”
“Yes, but it’s on the cusp.”
“Okay, so maybe I’ll say ‘Is anyone paying attention?’ I mean, come on now; am I the only one who can see it?”
“See what?”
“See what I mean? Look, people are selling out America for pieces of paper that we call money. Okay, money is good; we need money in order to live; without money there’s no food or shelter, fine. But I’m talking about the basics, yes?”
“Lady, how about start making sense.”
“Okay, it’s like this: You’re born; you grow up; you work and save; you retire and then you die, am I right?”
“You are right, but first we got to break for a quick commercial.”
“Bible on the Dash” (4:57)
“You were wrong; I’m not right. This is how it works: You’re born; you grow up; you learn how to cheat and steal from your fellow citizens and then you die. And as you’re dying all the dead American traitors are welcoming you to Hades for selling your country down the river.
“Not me.”
“You’re right: not everyone, but enough to pack our jails and prisons.”
“Very packed. A lot of money involved, charging the taxpayers to house criminals so they can get out and do it all over again.”
“This is how it’s supposed to work: you live on terra firma, meaning you’ve a piece of land that you call your own, someplace to defend from predators, be they Saber-tooth Tigers or Socialists. You and your neighbors speak the same language, which we’ll call English. Notice I said English and not Ebonics or Spanish, or even Arabic.
“So a bunch of you live together on this land and you belong to certain Tribes; for instance, you have the New York Tribe (New Yorkers) and New Port Richie Tribe; you belong to the tribe where you pay taxes, okay?”
“Okay.”
“Even though we live with different tribes, we move around a lot, so we can be a member of many tribes, even at the same time, like if you live in one town but work in another. My father was an airline pilot so he was a member of many tribes, miles apart, even on the same day; even thousands of miles apart.
“So here’s the deal: people of a country, which is a place on the globe that’s defined by borders, have a commonality in order to make things (life) run smoothly. Now listen, because this is the point I’m trying to make: the gears of life are the everyday things we take as a given; we take the for granted, okay?”
“Okay.”
“But we shouldn’t because, as they say…”
“I know, ‘because freedom isn’t free.’”
“That’s right, so when people mess up the works; when people mess with the gears, they are what we call breaking the law; doing wrong; and mostly it’s not paying attention to the ‘Thou Shalt Not Steal’ part of the ‘How to live equation,’ but sometimes it’s lying, like cheating on your spouse, beatings, rape, and even murder.

“So what it boils down to is whenever a person breaks the law, he breaks the Ten Commandments; we slide a little bit closer to anarchy, to despotism, to destroying the very fabric that makes America America, get it?”
“Got it.”
“So the one thing that keeps America together is the law. You can’t like have some people get away with breaking the law; you can’t like give amnesty to illegal immigrants, dreamers, DACA; you can’t have one set of laws for some and not for others, which is why Hillary and all the others have to face judgment like we all do. The weak links in the whole chain, from crime to prison, are the judges. The whole system depends on judges being honest.”
“Is there such a thing as an honest judge?”
“I doubt it; why, the whole reason we have repeat offenders is because judges aren’t doing their jobs, and the best example of that is the fact of the number of repeat offenders. Imagine your baby being abused by someone who abused a baby a couple of years ago. So would you go after the perpetrator or the judge, or both?
“I’m sorry, I’ll be late for work for sure. I just wanted to say to the Left-Wing Loonies out there if Hillary and all of her cohorts aren’t prosecuted according to the law, America will continue her slide into oblivion; at least that’s what I think. Been nice talking with you. Bye.”
“Bye, Julie. Okay, so on behalf of the crew, I’ll be wishing you all a goodnight: Goodnight.
“Long show, but good. So lawbreakers do a lot more harm than just breaking the law, aren’t they? Burger time: my treat.”
“I Been Down So Long” (2:58)

Great post.
