Doing the “T-Bow” (RR)

“I’M NOT WATCHING THE NFL ANYMORE”

(Sep. 26, 2017) — “Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to ‘Pulse of the Nation,’ the entertaining news show on the idiot box. First-off, I’d like to take this opportunity to make a shout-out to Chief New Leaf for filling in for me the other day. The reason I was absent was that I was at the church down on Hawthorn Street recording this sermon, so put your feet up, sit back and enjoy.”

“Good morning, you-all. What do you say we start today’s worship by turning to page 105 in your hymnal and join the choir in ‘Oh Happy Day’ 5:55.

“That was great; we sure do have a good choir, don’t you agree? As you all no doubt know, Roving and crew are up in the balcony recording us for a future show of ‘Pulse,’ which is fair warning to be on your toes, so let’s show the world our good behavior.

“Today’s sermon is titled ‘They Know Not What They Do,’ which in most cases, applies to a lot of the people that we know, doesn’t it? We all know people who shouldn’t have that ‘one-for-the-road,’ but they do anyway, succumbing to the devil’s will. The devil will get you every time you let your guard down; I ought to know because I had my last drink and a smoke of anything about twenty years ago.

“Just to inject a personal note, I was watching one of those old black-and-white movies on television the other night and they offered the condemned man a smoke and a blindfold. So I put myself in that same position and rejected the smoke, which made me feel pretty good about myself.

“Every day people do things that may be misconstrued as doing something else. I used to pull into a grocery store parking lot and stop to let people go across the crosswalk, but what I was really doing was making the tailgater behind me upset, at least in my mind; see what I mean?

“So what was I really doing? Was I being polite or was I making the guy behind me – because he tailgated me — frustrated by design? No doubt the majority would construe my driving habits as being good, yet in my mind I cared not for the lady with the kids and a cart full of food.

“The first time Tim Tebow knelt, the Left-Wing media went bonkers. “Look,” they said, “he’s praising the Lord for giving him the ability to excel on the gridiron;” bad, very bad.

“Fast forward to today and players are kneeling, kneeling EXACTLY as Tim Tebow did, but with a different interpretation.  Today’s kneeling is now being construed as disrespect for our flag, our Constitution, our Veterans and our country. Furthermore, they’re adding their support of The Swamp by disrespecting our president.

“But what is really happening? Are they stopping at the crosswalk to praise God or are they disrespecting the USA by refusing to honor Old Glory and the Veterans, from the Revolutionary War to anywhere in the world today?

“Michelle Malkin* says the NFL means ‘No Fans Left,’ and I agree with her completely. I’m afraid that the antics to get the population to watch the commercials between watching grown men running with a pigskin pales with disrespecting our Veterans. What I mean to say is that I’m not watching the NFL any more and I suggest everyone in this congregation do the same. Tell your friends that there’s not any more ‘one-for-the-road,’ because the last NFL game you watched is the last NFL game you’ll ever watch.

“Of course, if the Left-Wing media ever called Kaepernick‘s kneeling as being a copycat of Tim Tebow, the whole farce would end in a heartbeat, but that’ll never happen since it doesn’t advance Obama’s destroying America to make her ripe for Sharia Law, now, does it?

“But if Christianity teaches us anything, it’s to have hope and to never give up, so let’s end with “You’ll Never Walk Alone” 3:42.”

“And that’s our show: Goodnight.

“Burger time: my treat.”
