“THE RIGHT WAY IS THE BEST WAY”

(Aug. 31, 2016) — “Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to another fun-filled, packed half-hour here at ‘Pulse of the Nation,’ the most-watched show in its time slot. As you can see, we’re back at our favorite church down on Hawthorn Street, so what do you say we sneak in and see what’s going on?
“Ah! Decided to come to church, have you, Big Chief? Sneaking in, are you? Sneaking in with the cameraman and sound-boom girl as if nobody would notice? Welcome! Welcome, one and all.
“Look, everybody, it’s the ‘Pulse of the Nation’ blessing us with their presence. A-men and bless them. Okay, where were we? Ah, yes: we were talking about looking back at our yesterdays. Where were we? Last month? Yesterday? Sister Mary says we were all the way back to last Christmas.
“Let’s hear an ‘A-men.’ I can’t hear you. One more time for the viewers of ‘Pulse’: A-men! Thank you, everyone.
“What we were doing – before we were interrupted – was rewinding our memories to the yesterdays of our lives to see if we’ve made any progress in our intellectual approach to the ‘Meaning of Life.’ I hear a few chuckles from the peanut gallery: and yes, kids, we all know you enjoyed the Monty Python’s movie of the same name.
“And I think we can all use a song about now from the aforementioned gallery. Let’s listen to ‘Try to Remember.’ Take it away, Andy.
“Thank you. Nice job. Now back to the sermon of the day: ‘What if Yesterday was Tomorrow?’ All of us, I’m sure, would change the past if we only could. It is my belief that, in order to live a righteous life — as righteous as much as our Savior’s life — we would either be in jail or have been crucified by now.
“It’s not that any of us are bad people, it’s just that we don’t have the gumption or the desire or the – face it – guts that Jesus had. We compromise: we have to compromise in order to get along. Some of us may be against nuclear weapons, but you can’t deduct your fair share of paying for America’s nuclear arsenal from your overall tax bill.
“I’m not going down the never-ending list of things each and every one of us is against, but what I’m going to say is that there comes a time in a person’s life where you got to roll the dice and play whatever number comes up. Some of us are lucky and get a 7 or an 11 on our first roll; then there are those who roll a 2, 3 or 12 and bite the dust. Anything in between is where most of us live: on the edge of everything: on the edge of bankruptcy; eating too much sugar; not enough sleep; too much television and not enough time or effort reading books, reading good books, such as the Harvard Classics (for starters), or the Good Book (the Bible).
“In most cases doing right takes more effort than doing it the easy way, but in the long run doing it – whatever ‘it’ may be – the right way is the best way. There are no shortcuts to happiness and success.
“We’re all on the knife-edge of disaster, so live today so you won’t have any regrets tomorrow. ‘Impossible,’ you may very well say, and you’d be 100% correct. The meaning of being human is being able to cope with disasters, whether self-inflicted or caused by other factors.
“I’ve made mistakes that I most horribly and terribly regret, and each one I atone for, some more than others, but added all together I guess I’m like most people, trying to do the best that I can (with all the shortcomings). That includes falling flat on my face and getting up and doing it all over again, but not quite in the exact same way. I’ve got a sneaky suspicion that St. Peter at the Pearly Gates will say to me, ‘Well, kid, I got to give you an ‘A’ for effort, but effort alone doesn’t cut it. Sorry about that.’
“But still we persevere; we ‘dog’ on, for dogs won’t stop: if a house is burning and the dog’s master is trapped, or the master’s child, that dog will give up his life to save whoever needs saving. That’s just the way it is. And Muslims hate dogs. They wear their ignorance like badges of honor.
“America is under attack as never before. Forget the Redcoats marching to Lexington; forget Pearl Harbor; but we better be paying attention to who AND WHAT the department of the ‘Muslim Relocating Services (DHS)’ is doing to our country. They’re not vetting diddly. Obama is nothing more than Merkel’s substitute for the West in allowing the Muslim invasion to continue, year after year and day after day. If they don’t come in by jet, they’re crossing our southern border with impunity: they walk right on in.
“In short: we’re being invaded, and it’s our very own government which is the Quisling of the hour. Shameful beyond belief, but those who carry the largest burden of having the most shame are the Democrats of today who still have yet to realize that the Democrat Party of JFK has evaporated. Elizabeth Warren and Hillary Clinton are the Pied Pipers of the road to Socialism’s total destruction, reference World War II Germany and today’s Venezuela.
“And so, what does looking back on yesterday have anything to do with today? The government uses the phrase ‘Muslim refugee’ but the reality is they are dispersing the Islamic ‘Shock Troops’ all over America with more benefits and kid-gloves than our own homeless and struggling Veterans could ever dream of.
“It’s Obama and the government who are doing us the harm today that will get us killed tomorrow. If you think that our sailors being taken captive and paraded for the cameras was an isolated incident, you better think again. Our senior military men have been tested as to who is for the Constitution and who is for Obama. That’s right: it’s either for the Constitution or giving support for an ineligible Commander-in-Chief, which was what the Court-Martial of LTC Terry Lakin was all about.
“We’re not at the end of Obama’s game: it’s just about to start. So start thinking of today as your most recent tomorrow and remember it may be harder to do the right thing, but it may be the only thing that you’ll wish to remember.
“And a hearty A-men. Our choir will sing us out the door with ‘Blood Built Church;’ remember we have dogs and burgers; chips and dip out back. Chief New Leaf and crew are invited: our treat.”
