(Dec. 9, 2015) — “The West has never known a Hero like the Killer who commanded Fort Massacre”~ Taken from the film trailer of the 1958 Western, “Fort Massacre.”

For those of us who have realized that no matter who we vote for, a corrupt government gets elected, the past few days have provided an awful lot of humorous but thoughtful moments. It has been fun to watch the Republican Party continue to implode as their previous demand that Donald Trump not run as a 3rd party candidate begins to backfire and further illustrate there is actually no significant difference between them and the Democrats. As this writer has previously written, one of the strongest supporters of current, stated republican principles is none other than the Democrat front runner, Hillary Clinton. She supports everything Jeb, Marco, Carly, Lindsey Graham, Huckabee and Ben supports, militarily and socially, even more so in many regards.

A couple of days ago, Trump set the media (social and sycophant) on fire with his proposal to stop all immigration of Muslims “until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on.” It certainly appears the entirety of the political world has turned on the “Donald” with many making reference to the same Constitution they have studiously avoided while religiously supporting unconstitutional social issues and unlimited wars.

So, how does this relate to some old Western movie, you ask? Actually there are a multitude of similarities between the factors of the Old West and what is happening in this country today. First, let us take a look at the enemy of yesterday (Confederates/American Indians) and the enemy of today (Muslims/ISIS). There is irrefutable proof the actions of our government have created these enemies. This government certainly took the land and freedom of the American Indian; early on in the East and after the War Between the States, certainly in the West.  The “Trail of Tears” of the Cherokee, the “Long Walk” of the Navajo and the war of attrition against the Plains Indians are certainly illustrative.

There is also the similarities involved in the war-rhetoric of then and now. There are, of course, the words of General John Pope in 1862 as he followed the orders of his commander-in-chief, none other than the Great Emancipator himself, Abraham Lincoln, when ordered to Minnesota to deal with the recalcitrant Santee Sioux, “It is my purpose to utterly exterminate the Sioux. They are to be treated as maniacs or wild beasts, and by no means as people with whom treaties or compromises can be made.” This of course follows perfectly the words of former Secretary of State Henry Clay when he spoke of the American Indian, specifically the Cherokee, “The Indians disappearance from the human family will be no great loss to the world. I do not think them as a race worth preserving.” Then there were the words of General Carleton toward the Navajo, also during Lincoln’s administration, “This war, will be pursued against you if it takes years until you seek to exist, or move.”

Follow this up with the words of General William Tecumseh Sherman, the man who waged scorched earth tactics against the civilian population of the South in his “March to the Sea,” also under the command of Abraham Lincoln, when he wrote to his wife his goal of “extermination, not of soldiers alone, that is the least of the trouble, but the people of the South.” Sherman, after the War of Northern Aggression would turn his attention to the Plains Indians. Sherman would write to U.S. Grant, “We must act with vindictive earnestness against the Sioux, even to their extermination, men, women and children.”

Does any of this sound faintly similar to what is being said in the social media about how to deal with the Muslims? Even so-called Christians are calling for nuclear war in Syria on Facebook.

Our central government has created many enemies since the Indian Wars of the late 19th Century. Today, while we often lament our treatment of the American Indian, we readily transfer that former hate and wish for extermination to other peoples because we are directed to do so by the same central government that wished to eliminate the people of the South and the American Indian.

Now, the mortal enemy of our central government has changed; this government has created another enemy which seeks to destroy the people who support the aggression of our government.

Ironic is it not, the same foreign policy adviser who sent 500 million dollars to the Muslim jihadists in 1978 under the Carter administration, has for the past eight years held the same position with Obama. This of course is Zbigniew Brzezinski. Brzezinski, in 1998, answered the question if he had any regrets about his previous support of the Muslim jihadists:

“Q: And neither do you regret having supported the Islamic fundamentalism, having given arms and advice to future terrorists… it has been said and repeated Islamic fundamentalism represents a world menace today.

Brzezinski: Nonsense! It is said that the West had a global policy in regard to Islam. That is stupid. There isn’t a global Islam. Look at Islam in a rational manner and without demagoguery or emotion. It is the leading religion of the world with 1.5 billion followers. But what is there in common among Saudi Arabian fundamentalism, moderate Morocco, Pakistan militarism, Egyptian pro-Western or Central Asian secularism? Nothing more than what unites the Christian countries.”

Regardless of whether Brzezinski thought there was a “global Islam” in 1998, our central government has created one with its various wars over the past 25 years. Of course, these wars also created what is now “in common” among the Muslims: revenge against those who have invaded their countries. These wars have created a sea of immigrants seeking to escape the wars we have fomented and who knows how many of them seek revenge and retribution for being displaced and for the deaths of friends or relatives.

How do we differentiate between those who are seeking to escape the ravages of war and those who are determined to avenge the lives of family and friend? It simply cannot be done. Besides, our borders have been wide open for so long what guarantees are there many of them are not here now?

That being said, it only makes good sense to stop the influx of the enemies who seek to harm American citizens. Yes, we have not only allowed our government to create these enemies, in many cases we have supported them doing so, the same as was done against the people of the South and the American Indian. But is that any reason to continue to allow unlimited immigration and unprotected borders? To insure the protection of the people of this country, especially the millions of young people who have not participated in our gross stupidity, proper measures should be taken—including shutting down all immigration and pulling our military out of the engagements that create these enemies and placing them on our unprotected, porous borders until we can gain control of our own country. This is very simply: common sense; although it is not quite common anymore.

In conclusion, taking us back to the western theme of this article, imagine if you will settlers of the Old West who have sought refuge and safety inside the nearest fort against repeated attacks by the Indians. Imagine, too, if the local leadership, including the Cavalry who garrison the fort, stated to the people that the gates should be open to their enemy because they should not be excluded from the fort simply because they were of a different faith or because of their skin color. How many local settlers would have agreed with that insanity? How many agree with the Republicans, Democrats and the media taking the same position today?

Trump’s idea to stop illegal immigration at this time should not stop at Muslims. All immigration should be put on hold and our military brought home to protect our borders. Continued bombing of these countries in the Middle East and putting “boots on the ground” will only increase the number and dedication of those who wish to do the people of this country deadly harm. Combining that with an open-door policy on immigration and unprotected borders is absolute insanity.
