“THE UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE”
by Sharon Rondeau
(Nov. 6, 2015) — In its daily video release on Friday, the Israel Video Network features a video of a young Israeli boy, Dovid Moskovits, singing “You Raise Me Up,” a song which became well-known in the U.S. as a result of performances by Los Angeles native Josh Groban.
Dovid appears to be about 13 years old and has a remarkable vocal range. He sings the song in Hebrew with a surprise ending. As he sings, the video depicts various scenes in Israel, including Jerusalem’s Western Wall.
The song’s English lyrics are here. The music was composed in 2002 by Rolf Løvland with lyrics by Brendan Graham of the Norwegian musical group “Secret Garden.”
On Thursday, IVN featured a video of two singers competing in a talent show with a rendition of Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence.”
The network releases a set of videos daily with news and political commentary.
Music is often called “the universal language.”
