A “RADICAL APPROACH TO EDUCATION”

(Jun. 8, 2015) — For over 6½ years Obama’s Department of Education has been using the power of the purse to aggressively centralize changes in decisions on published history books and in changing the U.S. history curriculum that had previously been taught for over 239 years to a more global perspective.  Washington bureaucrats have been systematically taking control of the curriculum away from local school boards.  They have been forcing a dysfunctional Common Core math curriculum on students which is confusing to both students and parents.

Obama’s Washington bureaucrats have created an oppressive upheaval in teaching by installing endless Common Core testing on state educational departments.  The math Common Core curriculum is damaging the future prospects for students to go into advanced math and science in college (students in Europe, Russia, China and Asia are leaving U.S. students behind in math and science).  The below-listed article outlines the drive by the Obama administration, along with their progressive, socialist, and radical leftists allies, to “take ‘America’ out of US History.”  Progressives and leftists who tend to migrate to the teaching profession have been encouraging students to view the Republic with cynicism, have been attacking “American Exceptionalism,” degrading the concept of “American Patriotism,” teaching a more global perspective of history, turning students against the Free Enterprise System and profits, and discouraging individual achievement in favor of group progress.  This radical approach to education has been creating social, religious, race, and class divisions.

No longer are students in their classrooms hearing about America as a dynamic and exemplary nation, about America’s impressive history, the Pilgrims’ journey to America seeking freedom of religion, about the Colonists’ efforts to form a nation free from oppressive taxation, the Bill of Rights, the U.S. Constitution, the courage and identity of the Founding Fathers, the history of the Revolutionary War,  religious freedom, the Second Amendment, freedom of speech (not political correctness), the politics and political makeup of the three branches of U.S. government, the United States being the first nation in the world to terminate slavery, the importance of voting only by American citizens, the Civil War and President Lincoln’s emancipation of slavery.  They are not learning what many famous U.S. Presidents stood for over the last 240 years, about how over 500,000 America military personnel lost their lives to free enslaved people from oppression in World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam and Kuwait (how the U.S. never retained territory it conquered), and how American citizens have striven through 239 years for a more perfect nation.

Progressives, Leftists, and Socialists have been trying to blur the national identity students feel with America in favor of a global identity, treating patriotism with cynicism, and minimizing “American Exceptionalism.”  All American citizens should contact their local, state, and congressional representatives to insist that the U.S. History curriculum be restored in books purchased by local school boards and be taught once again in classrooms in grammar schools, junior high schools, and high schools.
