UPDATE ON REPEAL OF NEW YORK “SAFE ACT”

by New York State Grassroots Groups

(Apr. 23, 2015) — There are at least two segments of people among the “connected” – #1- want simplified facts / #2 – want to hear the real story. There will be two reports – below is the first.

Report #1 Codes Committee Brief:

·         Codes Committee did not advance Tenney or Katz bills to the Assembly floor. Katz was “out of town” and did not show in support of his bill [Katz is not on the Codes Committee]
·         The “recorded vote” was the majority Dems oppose / minority Repubs approve.
·         1 Dem vote sided with the Repubs / 2 Dems proclaimed their “personal opinion” was for repeal but voted “opposed” / several Dems looked toward theirs shoes as they raised their hands to “oppose” / the Repubs displayed little “emotion” and NO inspirational gesture as they raised their hands halfway to vote “approve.”
·         Further possibilities exist for these and other bills during this year’s legislative session
·         206 citizen representatives attended from every corner of the state
·         All who were present felt the “heat” and are fully aware the “debate” shall continue
·         Prior to April 22 it was widely publicized as “A Big Step for Safe Act Repeal.” It turned out that it was a BIG step in the right direction for repeal but surely not a conclusion for any faction of this war between Government, Citizens and those of self-interest.

A detail report will be released soon – the email title will be [REPORT 2 Codes Committee for Repeal]
