Marching to the Drumbeat of One

“BRINGING BACK THE CONSTITUTION”

(Jan. 22, 2015) — ACT I

Curtain rises on five men sitting around a card table that has a bottle of whiskey and container of ice. The men are sipping out of regular drinking glasses. They are dressed causally with a few sport coats draped over the backs of the chairs in this basement setting.

Oliver: “Didn’t used to be this way, that I’ll tell you. Why, today it’s all about the money and policy takes a back seat.”

James: “Fund raising is where it’s at, but hasn’t it always been that way? I mean, ‘He who has the most money wins’, right?”

Ted: “True, but not all of the time. Wasn’t Lincoln outspent, and so was Truman, I believe.”

Oliver: “That’s right: ‘DEWEY WINS.’”

Bob: “So Hillary is saying that she can raise more money than anyone, but what does that get us? Does it guarantee better policy? Does it correct 60 years of wrongs by the State Department? Does it address the issues, or is it just a popularity contest, and the heck with the consequences.”

Mike: “You mean like Obama?”

Bob: “Exactly.”

Oliver: “Talking about a ‘pig-in-a-poke,’ that’s Hillary.”

Ted: “True, so true, but that says it for about all of them, anyway. I mean, they’re politicians, for God’s sake. We expect them to lie to us.”

James: “But that’s exactly the point that Oliver is making:  we don’t have to have the ‘same old’ every time. Why, just look at how many times the same names have been repeated in our country’s history.”

Mike: “Right on: name recognition.”

James: “Stupid voters. Name over policy.”

Ted: “Which is why Hillary will win. The end of America; the final nail in the coffin; welcome, Third World status, where our high school graduates are ranked 29th on the world’s stage and going down. Don’t teach Johnny how to read and write. Don’t teach anything of lasting value.”

Oliver: “It’s called ‘Common Core,’ where the Sheriff targets home-schoolers and takes the kids away. Making our kids even dumber than they already are.”

James: “Happens every day, so often that it’s seldom reported anymore. Matter of fact, that’s part of the problem, isn’t it? The ‘non-reporting’ of attacks on our Liberty, just like the ‘non-reporting’ on Hillary being handicapped mental-wise, experience-wise, and integrity-wise.”

Ted: “Well, that can be said of all the Democrats. No doubt about that, pushing Socialism down our throats.”

James: “But then look at Romney and all the Republicans. What’s wrong, cat got their tongue? Can’t say ‘Birther?’”

Oliver: “Look, we’re getting off-track here. This discussion started about what kind of people do we want as the next president, not some immature and meaningless popularity contest determined on the amount of money raised by each candidate. Let’s say we take a break and start fresh.”

Same scene, same people.

Oliver: “During the break James told me about a couple of little-known candidates for the 2012 election. Go ahead, James, and tell them what you told me.”

James: “Well, you see, it’s like this. During the 2012 election there was this candidate who said to keep the perks, ground Air Force One, that he wasn’t taking any vacations, and neither was his VP. He said that there was just too much work to do without wasting precious time, he’d do the job for $1.00 a year, and so would the VP. He said that if anybody wanted to donate, give to the ASPCA or to the USO, that they didn’t want any ‘donations.’ They figured to let their platform stand by itself, that their belief in the Constitution and the ‘American Way’ would see them in the White House.”

Ted: “I heard about them. ‘Write-in only,’ are they the ones?”

James: “That’s right. Tried to get in on the Republican debates, but the Committee was afraid that he’d bring up the eligibility issue, so they ignored him.”

Mike: “I never heard about this. They get any votes?”

James: “A few, here and there. But here’s the thing: they were 100% spot-on in the platform, to bring back the Constitution as the law of the land and not systematically dissect it to suit a whim like Eric Holder has done with Justice.”

Oliver: “What do you mean, I mean, specifically?”

James: “No mystery. Everyone knows that Obama is Constitutionally ineligible to hold the office, that everything that he’s signed is invalid, yet Holder and all of his FBI agents haven’t made one move to arrest him, even after six years.”

Ted: “The words ‘integrity’ and ‘honesty’ have no meaning anymore. The prisoners in Gitmo should’ve been before a firing squad by now; the illegal immigrants should’ve been deported by now; all the Muslims in our country should’ve been dumped in Saudi Arabia by now; the UN should’ve been kicked out of our country by now; China’s ‘Most Favored Trade Status,’ which is just another way of saying the politicians are getting kickbacks; why, where do you think the money came from for Bill Clinton’s library? should’ve ended by now; the Keystone pipeline would’ve already been in operation; and so on.

“Just think of it. All of our current problems wouldn’t be so big had Obama had the smarts as those two that ran on a write-in platform in 2012. There’d by no illegal immigrant problem because there’d be no illegal immigrants in our country. And no Muslims. No Ft. Hood murders. No national debt sky high. No Federal Reserve and no IRS.

“And to think Obama could’ve made America a better place, but didn’t, and these two nobodies could’ve, should’ve, and would’ve if the American people had an ounce of common sense.

“It’s just such a waste, that we could’ve been light years ahead  instead of light years behind, thanks to Obama, his Administration, and all the other Obots, including Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.”

Oliver: “So what’s the consensus?”

Ted: “The American people will remain stupid.”

Mike: “The smart ones will buy guns, have a stash.”

James: “The American people won’t wise up one bit, so I agree with Mike.”

Bob: “I have to agree with what’s been said here tonight. First, this raising money for votes doesn’t help our Republic one bit. Second, the voters aren’t smart enough to tell which policies are good and which ones are bad.

“I believe that within a very short period of time, especially if an employer would be fined and jailed for employing an illegal immigrant, the illegal immigrant problem that our country faces would be solved very quickly.

“And all the other things that should’ve been done but weren’t was done as a calculated plan.

“I have to agree with Mike. Save yourself as much as possible, because this country is on the very brink of being taken over, and forget any counterattacks; that’s just wishful thinking. Once we are done, we’re toast.

“So each of us has to figure it out for ourselves. The Republican Party is actually contemplating nominating ineligible candidates for president. Think about it and what it means to our country.

“Buy guns, it’s your only hope.

“However, there just might be one American out there who believes in the Constitution more than any perks, legacy and libraries, more than money or fame, more than being fawned over, who’ll do our country proud and reverse the destruction that Obama and his minions have wrought. The person to look for is a person who marches to the beat of his own drummer, and not acting as some cheap clown for the media circus.”

Curtain lowers.
