THROUGH SELF-SUFFICIENCY

(Jan. 26, 2014) — Okay, you got me there: How? No, going around singing the National Anthem isn’t going to help you, not even a little bit, although it might make you feel better about yourself and your place within our country. If you really want to let Freedom Ring, you’ve got to start at home. You have to take positive steps to be as self-sufficient as allowable within your circumstances. I mean, let’s say you decide to have a herd of cows, but you’ve no pasture. Well, I guess you don’t get to have your cows now, do you? Reminds me of Corb Lund’s song, “Cows Around.

It would also be nice to have a fish farm, orchards, fields of wheat, but let’s get reasonable. Let’s think about what we really need, at least for the short term. Fine, so what’s “short term?” Let’s make it a month, and if we fall short, at least we’ve a couple of weeks, hopefully.

Water is the key, here. We’ve got to have potable water, so we store water, gallons of it. And then, when that runs out, some sort of device that filters water.

And then we have to decide how to dispose of our waste, human and animal. Maybe we have plastic bags that we burn, eventually.

Food: freeze-dried and canned. That’s it. And if you want hot water, there are some pretty neat solar units out there that work well with a bright sun.

You want music? Upright piano, woodwind, non-electric guitar. My Editor plays harp. The point is, obviously, anything that doesn’t require a payment to the utility company.

Remember this: your “Freak-out Factor” is directly proportional to your preparedness. So, in order to have a factor of “ZERO,” one would need a rocket ship, space station, helicopter, submarine, and so on, not excluding an Army and Navy, on standby 24-7, ready to save you, to whisk you out of  danger at a moment’s notice. Lacking unlimited resources, we have to settle for less, such as making it a habit to fill up at the halfway mark and keeping a first-aid kit stocked up and up-to-date.

Most store-bought first-aid kits don’t have needle and thread to sew up wounds, but yours will.

Flashlights operated on a cranking mechanism rather than batteries. Same with powering communication devices: hand-crank generators. The point is to make your survival more in your hands than anyone else’s. We don’t want to rely on the government for anything if we can help it. We want to be as self-sufficient as possible: We want our Freedom.

We want to grow chives on the window sill. If we have the space on the balcony, we want to have a Victory Garden. So we don’t have a truck farm, but what we do have is a new awareness of Freedom, a new attitude that a smaller government is more advantageous than a humungous impersonal machine that couldn’t change a light bulb without a committee hearing.

Think for yourself. Step One is to start to become as disaster-proof as you can, for all of our sakes. Protect yourself and your family through good plans and adequate self-protection: weapons and the ability to use them effectively.

We don’t want Agenda 21, let alone to have ANYTHING to do with the United Nations. We don’t want our population forced from rural areas into  packed cities, where the government can easily control us. And we certainly DON’T WANT THIS GOVERNMENT: OBAMA AND HIS MUSLIM-LOVING GOONS!
