“NO TRESPASSING”

(Sep. 26, 2013) — Picture a congregation on Sunday morning, standing and singing praises to Our Lord, Jesus Christ. And picture them all armed, all packing, and the kids’ backpacks are filled to the brim with ammo and water. What you’re seeing is a reality check. Look around and see the armed guards at the doors, every door. And up in the bell tower, you see a couple of parishioners with scoped rifles.
No, you’re not in Mali, or Syria. You’re in Biloxi, MS, or Bangor, ME. The preacher, priest, or minister is saying that there’s nothing, nothing at all in the New Testament that says you have to take it, that you have to take being persecuted in any way, shape or form. As a matter of fact, the message today is “PAY ATTENTION.”
So what do you say we eavesdrop and learn what “PAY ATTENTION” is all about?
“Good morning, one and all. For you first-timers, welcome and allow me to apologize for Brad Johnson’s off-key singing. That’s okay, Brad, it was meant in good nature.
“I’d like to get the announcements out of the way, then we can get to the sermon of the day. Ruth Jackson, our organist, is out with a cold so her very capable daughter, Ruby, is taking her place. The Lewises’ son is still missing somewhere in Iraq, and the Smiths were informed that their daughter, Linda, was killed protecting the poppy crop in Afghanistan. I’m sure that you’ll all find the time to pray for our men and women in uniform, from our own local police force to the Private and Seaman serving us somewhere far away from home.
“For those of you who aren’t familiar with the focus of this church, let me inform you that we are, first and foremost, Christians who believe and live “The Golden Rule.” And equally, this is our land. Our land is ruled under the umbrella of the United States Constitution with its “Freedom of Speech.” To make the whole system work, the backbone of the whole concept of ‘Freedom’ is the means to back it up, which brings us to the Second Amendment, for without the ways and means to defend Freedom, there is no Freedom.
“Let’s say you have an alfalfa field that sits between the county road and a fishing hole. In times past, the locals who fished at the hole would canoe down the river for a mile or so, catch the limit, and then glide back to the public boat ramp. But lately you’ve seen tire tracks through your field from the road to the fishing hole, so you put up signs. You start with the usual ‘No Trespassing,’ then on to ‘Private Property,’ yet the furrows are getting deeper and wider.
“The next year you decide to up the ante and hire a billboard contractor to erect a number of signs leading up to the trail that crosses your field. On one of the signs it reads “No Right Turn 150 Feet.” On another, ‘Violators Will be Prosecuted to the Full Extent of the Law.’
“Yet the furrows are getting deeper and wider, and you find beer cans and candy wrappers on the bank. You’ve heard stories of drunken debauchery at that spot taking place Saturday nights into the wee hours of Sunday morning.
“Now you’ve had enough, so you build a brick wall and block off any egress to the fishing hole from the county road. At the next Town Hall meeting the subject is brought up that you’re denying public access to a public fishing hole, so it’s voted on, all legal, mind you, and you are now required to provide ‘easy, affordable access from the country road to the fishing hole.’
“So the word spreads that there’s a real live fishing hole, and cars are going in and out day and night. One night it rains and a young couple gets stuck and the young man doesn’t drop his date off until sunrise and isn’t the mother upset. So now you’re required to maintain a TWO-lane gravel road.
“Now there’s a two-lane gravel road going through your 20-acre alfalfa patch, but, because it’s such a popular location for fishing and picnicking, you’re now required to provide parking for ten cars, on gravel, no less.
“And here comes the kicker: the two-lane gravel road and the ten parking places aren’t big enough to handle the flow of traffic, so it’s decided that the county will exercise ‘Eminent Domain‘ and pay you a fair price for the ten acres that will be the newest park in the county-wide park system.
“The fact that you don’t want to sell isn’t a matter of consideration, nor is the fact that you need the feed for your goats that support your goat cheese business. Too bad. You lose. The result is that the remaining ten acres of alfalfa gets trampled, becomes a makeshift baseball field, football gridiron and place for flying kites and RC airplanes. And even though you got paid by the county for ten acres of farmland, you lost it all and are still required to pay the taxes on the remaining ten acres that is worthless to you.
“Looking back on it, had you posted a sign that read ‘Trespassers will be shot,’ with an easily identifiable photo of a 12-gauge shotgun, none of this would have happened.
“It’s just like in our homeland now, isn’t it? Our alfalfa field, our land, is being trespassed upon, by Muslims and illegal immigrants. They don’t obey the law, they ignore the signs, so the only thing left is brute force, and nothing, but nothing, demonstrates brute force any better than a weapon, which is why we all carry, which is why we’re all armed. We don’t accept ‘Eminent Domain.’ We don’t accept Muslims. And we certainly don’t accept illegal immigrants.
“Remember, whenever you see a Muslim, sing, whistle or hum “Silent Night.” They’ll get the message. I guarantee it, it’ll make them ‘PAY ATTENTION.’
“Amen.”

Amen! We are fighting for the right to say a two minute prayer before the Board of Supervisors meeting. So instead we are having 15 minutes of prayer before they start and a few more during the public comment time. Pray for us. Our Sheriff is on our side as is the Board and public opinion. It’s just the Freedom From Religion organization.
