HAVE AMERICANS BECOME “TARGET PRACTICE” IN THE MIDDLE EAST?

Gen. Martin Dempsey is currently in his second term as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff

(Sep. 5, 2013) — ROE’s (Rules of Engagement) have been put in place since the first time humans decided that, since all other forms of problem-solving techniques have been exhausted, or maybe just circumvented in the first nano-second, violence is an accepted form of reaching a satisfactory conclusion to a set of circumstances that requires immediate attention.

If I even think or imagine someone may harm me or a loved one, I’m on the warpath. If I’m not in an all-out attack mode, my defenses are up and I’m ready to do whatever it takes to insure the safety of yours truly and the person, or persons, that I am protecting, either by choice or chance; it makes no difference.

I was once in a situation where if it moved, or even if you thought or imagined it moved, you shot it. Notice I didn’t say “shot at it.” No, in the real world you have a really, really good idea of how many rounds you have on hand, but even if you have an unlimited amount, you don’t take chances.  You can’t take chances. What if you fire a “warning” shot and the next thing you know is that the guy watching your back has a hole in his head because you didn’t take care of business as you should have; what then? How are you going to explain that away to your conscience in a year, or in 10, 40? That because you weaseled, your buddy died. No, just ain’t worth it.

Twenty-first-century boxing matches are an interesting phenomenon:  two people trying to beat each other’s brains out.  If you think that a boxing match under the lights in the ring has any resemblance of a brawl in an alley, better rethink life in the real world. A fist hitting a nose can cause death, so, too, a kick in the head. You see, in the alley there are no “time outs,” no referee, no gorgeous girl holding up the number of the next round. There’s only one round, one chance to walk away, or maybe not, because any rules of engagement is pretty much “whatever it takes.”

Which is pretty much how World War II was fought. If a GI was shot at from a farmhouse, he’d call for a round from a howitzer or contact his friendly neighborhood tank for a little assistance. End of story. Heck, nowadays our troops in Afghanistan can’t shoot at anybody unless they can identify that the bad guy is “armed,” but then what about the box of grenades at the Muslim’s feet?

No, that doesn’t fly with me, not at all. What we have in our military today is just target practice for Muslims. The clay pigeon industry went kaput since the Americans showed up. Why have a “substitute” target when the real one is walking by your window, and if you miss, nothing is going to happen since the Americans can’t fire into a house or any building for fear of hitting a “civilian,” a concept that the Afghans consider absurd. Come to think of it, so do I, and so should you.

The reason why General Demspey got another tour of duty as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is that he did what he was told during the LTC Terry Lakin kangaroo Court Martial. For shame. Anyway, here we have a TOTALLY incompetent fool buying into the ROE’s of our troops overseas and Congress just sits by and keeps their mouths shut because they’re afraid to be called “Birther!” or “Racist!”

The only thing I’m afraid of is that this sorry charade of the usurper de facto president Obama will do even more harm.  It sure looks as if he is by messing with Syria, just as he messed with Egypt and Libya. It’s the Muslim Brotherhood modus operandi all over again with the puppet Obama at the rear while real Americans are on the front lines getting killed.
