WASHINGTON ELITES CREATE POLICIES TO PROMOTE THEIR OWN POWER, NOT PROSPERITY

(Aug. 11, 2013) — The American Dream has absolutely nothing to do with the size of your home, the car that you drive or the clothes that you wear. The American Dream is the road to success, not what you carry with you when you walk it.
In a country founded on a Constitution which limited what the government could do to you, not what the individual could do for himself, we have managed to produce the greatest level of human prosperity that the world has ever known in our brief 200-plus year history. That unparalleled prosperity is in danger because the policy prescriptions the current administration is pursuing are damaging the road, as we attempt to navigate it. As Americans walk that road, they will wear down their shoes, some items will be lost, and they will age and grow older but the road under their feet has always led them to a better tomorrow.
Continuing to pursue policies which assail individual liberty and empower boards of bureaucrats and regulators at your expense, will render that road impassable. I have committed everything to this fight because my 12 years inside the DC bubble were transformative. You cannot believe in the power of the journey down that uniquely American road and stand idle while those who care only about the power of power dismantle it, all the while deceiving you into believing that the value of an obstruction-free road doesn’t matter as long as you look good while walking it.
