(May 27, 2013) — Former IRS Commissioner Douglas Schulman told the Senate Finance Committee last Tuesday that he was not aware that certain applicants for tax-exempt status had been discriminated against by the agency he supervised despite numerous complaints received during his tenure.

Schulman’s successor, Steven Miller, resigned under pressure after the IRS’s practice of political targeting of tax-exempt applicants became public.

Last Wednesday, Lois Lerner, who directed the IRS division which reviews tax-exempt applications, told the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee that she had “done nothing wrong” in the breaking scandal but invoked her Fifth Amendment right which she claimed was designed to “protect innocent individuals.”

The Fifth Amendment contains several provisions which include the right to remain silent to avoid self-incrimination; prohibiting charging a person for the same crime more than once; and the right of a defendant to a grand jury review of evidence in prior to being charged.

Lerner’s invocation of the Fifth Amendment was deemed illegitimate by the chairman of the Oversight Committee, Rep. Darrell Issa, who said that she “remains under subpoena” to testify.

Lerner was asked to forfeit her six-figure position at the IRS but reportedly “refused,” after which she was suspended with pay.

The FBI is reportedly investigating the misconduct at the IRS which was originally said to emanate from one office in Cincinnati but has since proven to be more widespread.

Obama’s White House counsel reportedly became aware of the Inspector General’s forthcoming report on the IRS’s targeting of groups it viewed as politically opposed to the Obama regime on or about April 24.  According to White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, Kathryn Ruemmler did not believe it was necessary to advise Obama about the findings in the report.

Obama has also said that he does not know what happened on September 11, 2012, when four Americans were left to die and others severely injured after a U.S. compound in Benghazi, Libya came under terrorist attack.  Obama, Hillary Clinton, Susan Rice and other regime operatives lied about the cause of the attack until it became clear that overwhelming evidence existed that the attack was not a “spontaneous protest” gone awry.

Despite evidence to the contrary, Yahoo! News continues to protect the Obama regime by asserting that changes made to the CIA’s original talking points “appear to be of a political nature.”

The day after the attack, Obama flew to Las Vegas, NV for a scheduled campaign event.  It has been reported by retired military officers that only Obama could have given the stand-down order which halted rescue missions mounted after the attack became known.  Constitutionally, the president is also the commander-in-chief of the U.S. military, but Obama reportedly did not consult with then-Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta following a brief 5:00 p.m. meeting on September 11.

Military experts have stated that an “emergency action message” would have reached top commanders in the region, in Washington, DC, and Obama himself within seconds after the first distress call from the Benghazi location was made.

Obama has ignored the pronouncement that the long-form birth certificate posted on the White House website since April 27, 2011 is a forgery, although his press secretary unexpectedly acknowledged on May 21 that he was aware that questions have been raised about it.

Despite promising an “unprecedented level of openness in government,” Obama justified the seizing of journalists’ professional and home phone records, stating that as “commander-in-chief,” it was his job to prevent Americans fulfilling dangerous missions from “getting killed.”

After testifying to Congress that he knew nothing about the targeting of Fox News reporter James Rosen in 2009 in which Rosen was accused by an FBI agent of acting as a “criminal co-conspirator” while working on a story which might have involved a national security leak, the U.S. Justice Department under Eric Holder admitted that Holder himself had approved the search warrant for Rosen’s email account in May 2010.

Holder therefore perjured himself to Congress.  He was deemed to be in contempt of Congress last June after convincing Obama to invoke “executive privilege” to withhold documents on Fast & Furious, a gunrunning operation which ultimately killed at least one American and several hundred Mexicans.  Holder had testified that he had not known about that program, either, until several weeks before his first appearance before Congress in the matter.

Holder’s Justice Department has also told The Post & Email that it possesses no documentation on the deployment of FBI agents to Madisonville, TN on April 20, 2010 for an event which “never happened” but resulted in the imprisonment of a U.S. Navy veteran and protester of government corruption.  The affidavit of probable cause in the case of Darren Wesley Huff contained false information and hearsay not supported by eyewitnesses present that day in Madisonville.

Holder has reportedly sought a criminal investigation into the IRS targeting, including whether or not IRS employees violated the Hatch Act, which states that federal employees may not engage in certain activities described as “political.”

A member of The Fogbow, Mitzi Lynn Torri, reportedly works for the IRS in a southern state and may have been involved in contacting then-Madisonville Mayor Allan Watson with false reports of a “courthouse takeover” for April 20, 2010 involving Walter Francis Fitzpatrick, III and Huff.  Other members of The Fogbow have openly admitted that they constructed the hoax to implicate Huff and Fitzpatrick in a crime.

In February 2012, after a two-month incarceration in the Monroe County, TN jail, Fitzpatrick received a phone call from a military source advising him that his pension would be garnished by two-thirds for the next two years without a hearing, written communication or any due process.  He has since been struggling to pay his rent and buy food while continuing to expose Monroe County and federal-level corruption on the part of Obama regime members and supporters.

IRS officials, including Schulman, visited the White House “more than 100 times” while the targeting was ongoing.

Targeting of organizations which the regime deems oppositional include the news journal WorldNetDaily (WND); TruetheVote.org, an elections-integrity organization; Fox News commentator Eric Bolling as revealed to TruetheVote Executive Director Catherine Engelbrecht; various “Tea Party” groups; organizations supportive of traditional marriage and opposed to abortion; parents of adoptive children who claimed the Earned Income Tax Credit; religious groups, particularly those of Jewish and Christian orientation; and those which contained “the Constitution,” “Bill of Rights,” or the word “patriot” in their names.

As The Post & Email has reported previously, the FBI and Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) have cited individuals with the same identification as “potential domestic terrorists” and “sovereign citizens.”  In a report issued in April 2009, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) identified returning veterans, those opposed to illegal immigration and abortion, and those politically opposed to Obama as potential “right-wing extremists.”  The SPLC has been acting as an official adviser to the Obama regime since at least 2009.

Some of those who claim they were singled out for harassment and unreasonable IRS requests for information have begun filing lawsuits against the agency.

Update, May 28, 2013:  There is evidence that a raid on Gibson Guitars in Tennessee by the U.S. Justice Department in 2011 was politically-motivated.  On August 31, 2011, NPR, which is federally-funded, opined in a piece masquerading as journalism, “Gibson vigorously denies these allegations, maintaining that all of its purchases from Madagascar have complied with U.S. and Malagasy law. A company attorney says Gibson has presented documents to support that claim and that the recent raid seized legally obtained wood from India. He adds that the company stopped importing wood from Madagascar in 2009…What constitutes that responsible way may only become clear when the government finally charges Gibson and the company gets the day in court it says it wants so badly.”
