I hope others are as disturbed as I am that President Obama displayed more competence in filling out a March Madness NCAA bracket last week than he did articulating his foreign policy on a visit to Israel. Here in the South, we call leading from behind following. And that’s why we’ve launched the Allen West Guardian Fund-to elect principled leaders who will guard our constitutional Republic and fight for our conservative values. We can’t afford any more politicians who bow to foreign leaders and place political expediency ahead of their country.
The Allen West Guardian Fund will lead the way to elect twelve hard-charging constitutional conservatives to the U.S. Congress in 2014, who are either veterans or minorities, to ensure this nation remains the land of the free and home of the brave.
However, to be successful, we must raise $250,000 before the March 31st Federal Election Commission fundraising deadline. Can we count on your donation of $25, $50, $100 or more today?
Leadership is a character trait, and you either have it or you don’t. Throughout my career in the U.S. Army, I found that leaders were usually the men and women who had fought through adversity or persevered through intense physical challenges. Thus, it’s no surprise to me that veterans and minorities often make outstanding leaders.
But veterans and minorities are grossly underrepresented in our government, and that’s why the Guardian Fund will recruit twelve constitutional conservative veterans and minorities to run for Congress in 2014…and why we’ll do everything in our power to make sure they win.
The Guardian Fund will successfully complete our mission if, and only if, we have the support of conservative patriots like you. That’s why I’m so urgently asking you to help us reach our goal by March 31st.

The citizen then responded:
Dear Mr. West,
America is in the biggest fight it has ever seen since the Revolutionary War. This current battle is larger than anything you saw in combat. Whereas I do not dismiss your wonderful and patriotic military service, I am truly disappointed that you will not work equally as hard here on the home front. Compelling evidence of Obama’s fraud and forgery was offered to you at CPAC, and for political and personal reasons, you have refused to lend your help. The media, Congress, and many other folks whose fame could elevate this cause have run for cover. Therefore, my choice is to toss all ALLEN WEST literature that comes in the mail, and delete all emails such as this one. It is without regret that I can no longer support you.

A second response to the same solicitation reads:
Your barking up the wrong tree fellow – cause you missed your chance to stand up for America at CPAC….NOT INTERESTED – BYE [sic]
I suspect that Mr. West sealed the fate of his own political future. He has shown his true colors by calling on donors to support him because of his race, not because of his adherence to the Constitution. Were he rightfully more concerned about the Constitution, his race would need no reference in his endeavor.
The reply by the person that received the email was nicer than what I would have sent.
The past is just that, the past. So what if he spent 22 years in the military. He is now simply a coward that looks out only for himself. Allen West is a total disappointment and I too will have nothing to do with a person of such low principles.
I agree with you, Fran, my email would have asked Mr. West if he even knew the definition of ‘principled leaders.’
I believe Mr. West’s political aspirations just went South!
