Nothing to Fear

…EXCEPT FEAR ITSELF

(Mar. 12, 2013) — Think about this: you’re sending your daughter off to college at the end of the summer. You know it’s a violent world, because the last case you were on you caught the perp, red-handed, literally, standing over the corpse of a 12-year-old girl whose only crime was bad luck. So you burned out and took a job as the security officer of a start-up company.

That’s right, you were once one of the Men in Blue, and wasn’t it disturbing to learn that it was the criminals that fed the system, that law-breakers were the harvest of a setup that had no concern over the individual but feasted upon the weaknesses of immoral people for the sorry excuse of a 15% budget increase, perpetually. The ‘ole revolving door of so-called justice…the only problem is, the criminals don’t exclusively target judges, members of parole boards, and any and all lawyers, defense and DA’s all rolled up as one group.  But heck, why not? They all play golf together anyway.

As a responsible adult, you wish to equip your children with the best chances of success, and the most important category is that of safety, safety in wearing the seat belt, driving defensively, learning that in the whole fighting history between a car and a motorcycle the bike has never won. Also in acting as a good parent, you’ve taught your kids how to shoot, with safety, once again, taking center stage. You started them off with a BB gun, then moved up to a .22 Remington rifle, then a 30.06 Winchester, a Mossberg shotgun and various handguns.

Upon your daughter’s graduation from high school this June, you’re going to give her a lightweight revolver as her present, for which she’ll have a conceal carry permit. You will send her away with the full knowledge that she’ll be safe from harm, at least from a molester/rapist/torturer/murder who, more than likely, was previously convicted of the same crime a couple of years previously. Ever wonder why when a child goes missing they zero in on registered offenders?

I have many guests stopping by at my place, and they all know that I have guns, loaded guns, either on my person or within arm’s reach. Heck, they have their own weapons anyway. But if someone happens to come by who wishes me harm, well, I’m betting on one of my guns taking care of business, so they’ll fear me with my weapons. Of course, on the other hand, if they’d just drive on by and leave me alone, I’ll leave them alone.

The same goes for my government, people who work on my behalf, or at least they’re supposed to work on my behalf. What if there’s a government employee that doesn’t work on my behalf, what if they’ve a different agenda, what then? Who fears whom, then, I ask? Not me.  I’ve nothing to hide, nothing that can’t see the light of day, I have school records (for the most part pretty dismal, unless they gave A’s for partying and drinking, sleeping in, cutting classes), a fully legal Birth Certificate, Selective Service Registration Card, an Honorable Discharge, and other various papers and a lifetime of photographs, childhood friends, classmates, phone numbers, addresses, and one and only one Social Security number that was issued to me, just me and no one else.

So as far as Obama and his sorry collection of administrators, if they’ve nothing to fear, then the Second Amendment should be a moot point. I’m not the one worried; why are they?
